1Malaysia Pad joins country’s lucrative tablet market

PUTRAJAYA: A new player has come into the country’s lucrative tablet market — the 1Malaysia Pad.

The 7-inch pad, using the Android Gingerbread operating system, was developed by MalTechPro Sdn Bhd.

It was officially unveiled at a soft launch yesterday, promising affordable mobile connectivity on a device which the developers claim was on par with those currently available in the market.

Being a new kid on the block, MalTechPro executive chairman Datuk Sohaimi Shahadan did not rule out the difficulty in breaking through the highly-competitive tablet market, but he is optimistic their business model would give them an edge over the rest.

It was reported earlier this month that Malaysia is the largest tablet market in South-East Asia, racking up sales worth US$374mil (RM1.18bil) last year.

Sohaimi said that unlike other tablet makers which only sell hardware, MalTechPro has the advantage of an in-house team that could tailor the tablet to match the business and communication needs of companies and corporations.

“We are an apps (applications) developer, and the 1Malaysia Pad can be customised according to the needs of the client.

“Let’s say a company wants 500 units. We can customise the apps to do whatever they need, and these apps will be exclusive to that particular company,” Sohaimi said after the soft launch by Domestic Trade, Consumer Affairs and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob here.

The tablet also comes with a clutch of built-in applications, the most notable being the 1Malaysia Messenger or 1MM app, which offers free messaging between users akin to popular applications such as WhatsApp and Blackberry Messenger.

Sohaimi said the 1Malaysia Pad will be in the market next month after its official launch by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, at an introductory price of RM999 for the first 5,000 units.

The tablet comes with two cameras – 3.0 megapixel device at the back and a 0.3 megapixel in the front – WiFi and 3G data capabilities, a Li-Polymer 4000mAH battery and a 32GB micro SD memory card.

So you’ve decided that it’s time to make a tablet part of your life, but a lack of star-spangled slabs has prompted you to defer the purchase. Malaysians now face no such dilemma, due in no small part to the 1Malasyia Pad — the country’s first branded tab. The 1Mpad will reportedly soon be marketed to students (1.4 million of them, in fact), but 5,000 of the 7-inch Gingerbread devices are now being offered up to deep-pocketed locals, priced online at a rather-ambitious 999 Malaysian ringgits (about $315). Manufactured by MalTechPro Sdn Bhd, the 1Mpad will be offered to students at a to-be-determined discounted rate, making it the first such device to be available using a student discount card. At its current high list price, the tablet doesn’t appear to be a fantastic deal, shipping with 3G broadband and the 1Malaysia Messenger application, which will serve as an IM service of sorts for sending text, pictures, video and voice recording to other 1Mpad owners. Still, if you have the cash to spare for an early taste of what Malaysian students may some day be using to surf the web, you can hit up the source link after the break for a bit more info.

Apple iPad3 is coming! Thursday 2am Malaysia Time GMT +8

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012 5,445 views

You’ve heard all the rumors, and now Apple has finally confirmed the details of its next iPad launch event. It will take place on Wednesday, March 7th at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco. (March 8, 2AM Malaysia Time GMT +8)

The company is keeping things suitably vague beyond that, of course, promising only that it has “something you really have to see. And touch.” You can be sure we’ll be there live to find out exactly what that might be.

Apple iPad event confirmed for March 7th in San Francisco

The news confirmed earlier speculation that Apple would debut the newest iPad – which most have labeled iPad 3 in early March, which later settled on March 7, the same day of the week Apple used to launch the original tablet in 2010 and last year’s iPad 2.

The background shows part of an iPad screen, with a finger poised over the Calendar app, which is set to March 7. If the background is a photograph of the iPad 3 and not digitally manipulated, it hints that the tablet will not sport a physical home button, as have earlier iPads.

Some bloggers argued that the photo also showed a higher-resolution, or so-called “Retina,” display.

Apple will host the launch event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, a regular venue for the company’s press-only announcements and where former CEO Steve Jobs introduced the iPad 2 on March 2, 2011.

This will be the first time that Jobs, who died last October after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, will not host an iPad launch. The event will kick off at 10 a.m. PT, and wrap up an hour or so later.

Most experts believe the iPad 3 will feature a higher-resolution screen, a faster processor – perhaps Apple’s first quad-core – and more internal memory. They have been split on whether the new tablet will support the faster LTE data networks.

Apple has not said anything about the price of the new iPad – some recent rumors have claimed it will cost about $80 more than current models, iPad 2 – when it will go on sale or even the official name of the tablet.

Prices, on-sale dates and naming are likely to be disclosed March 7.

iPad 3 Release Time Zone All Countries / Cities

The invites for iPad 3 media event on March 7th, Wednesday, 10AM PST = March 8, 2AM Malaysia Time GMT +8 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Check your local time on the iPad 3 launching from the above iPad 3 Release Time Zone All Countries / Cities chart.

The invitation says:

“We have something you really have to see. And touch.”

Something we really have to see? The image shows a higher resolution than the current iPad 2. We believe that Apple hints iPad 3 to have high-resolution Retina display.

And Touch? Perhaps it is an iPad without a Home button. Have you noticed that there’s no Home button in the image of the invitation? It will be better as the Home Button create a lot of problem for the current user? Even my iPhone Home Button giving me a lot of headache!

The iPad 3 will be the 1st iDevice introduced by Apple CEO Tim Cook after the passing of Steve Jobs.

I have seen a video on this iPad 3 Concept Features and it’s really amazing and when could this be done?? Anyway it’s a good concept to be come reality, I hope soon!

Awesome iPad 3 concept. This iPad 3 video contains advanced CG iPad 3 features on a new iPad design. A huge step up from iPad 1 features or iPad 2 features.

Key highlights of the iPad 3 Concept features include edge-to-edge screen, magnetic iPads with near field communications (NFC) and 3d holographic display for multiplayer games.

This computer generated iPad 3 concept video pushes the envelope in iPad design and iPad features, just like its hugely successful sister video ‘iPhone 5 Concept Features’ did with iPhone design and iPhone features. We hope this Concept iPad 3 preview provides you as much entertainment as an iPad 3 commercial or iPad 3 official video or an iPad 3 review, before the actual iPad 3 unboxing.

Will you get the all new Apple iPad 3? If yes, could you tell me why and if not why so? I will definitely get 1 for myself if the price is right~! This is just the right tablet to replace my old and faithful ASUS Eee Pc (netbook).

Samsung Galaxy Note is in Malaysia!

Saturday, November 12th, 2011 4,362 views

What’s “Samsung Galaxy Note”?

Samsung Galaxy Note is a new type of smartphone, borne of insight and innovation. It is the ultimate on-the-go device which consolidates core benefits of diverse mobile devices while maintaining smartphone portability. It empowers you with everything you can ever desire so that you can simply, feel free. It is truly smart.

Samsung Galaxy Note

Samsung’s new GT-N7000 Galaxy Note is the handset that many people dream of with obnoxiously large smartphones. It’s as thin as a Galaxy S II, running Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos processor and its 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display is as gorgeous as it is enormous.

Samsung Galaxy Note Resolution

The 1280 x 800 pixels screen resolution you once could only get with a full-size laptop (or in the Galaxy Tab 10.1) can now slide comfortably into your front pocket, that’s Samsung Galaxy Note. With support for 21Mbps HSPA+ (850, 900, 1900, 2100Mhz), LTE, EDGE and GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz), the Note is first and foremost a mobile phone!

Consumer research indicates that people always want to do more tasks much better, even on the go, whether it is web browsing, email, games, or viewing photos and videos.

Samsung Galaxy Note

To do all this, consumers carry multiple devices, because each device has unique benefits that work best in a particular situation. Therefore, consumers constantly switch devices to use the right device at the right time.

Samsung Galaxy Note

Even for consumers with multiple smart devices, they still carry around a notepad for writing down ideas.

Samsung Galaxy Note

There is an emerging desire for a primary device for on-the-go use that could consolidate the core tasks of multiple devices as well as recreate the ease and simplicity of using a pen and paper.

Samsung Galaxy Note

The GALAXY Note was created to reflect your desires. The Galaxy Note is a primary device that will minimize the need to switch to other devices while on the go and open up the potential of your mobile experience.

Samsung Galaxy Note jumbo display makes it the perfect candidate for a notepad replacement and, with the included S Pen stylus, you’ll have no problem jotting notes on the fly, marking up screenshots or signing documents electronically.

Samsung Galaxy Note : S Pen Stylus

Don’t call it a stylus! Samsung prefers S Pen and, with features that you won’t find on just any plastic poker, it might even deserve the distinction. It’s able to tap and hold to capture an instant screenshot, which is then immediately opened up in an image editor and do wonders!

Samsung Galaxy Note - S Pen Stylus

The S Pen is combined with the full touch screen to create a best-in-class mobile input experience. It is the most advanced pen input technology featuring an array of functions including pressure sensitivity, preciseness, speed and more. With the S Pen, you can easily sketch drawings or write notes with increased accuracy and ease. Also, the S Pen functionality is deeply integrated into the GALAXY Note’s native applications to provide a richer interactive experience.

It’s really a useful tool for me to copy notes and replace all my physical notebook and pen and environmentally friendly too! =)

S Memo : S Pen optimized advanced memo

Samsung Galaxy Note : S Memo

The S Memo lets you record all forms of ideas instantly and freely. A quick memo can be taken from any screen to capture your ideas before they float away. Those ideas along with pictures, voice recordings, typed text, handwritten notes or drawings can be captured into S Memo, to be edited, annotated and shared as desired.

I don’t need to carry my 555 note book and just a Samsung Galaxy Note will do!

Advanced 8MP camera

Samsung Galaxy Note : Advanced 8MP camera

I love to take photo and with the powerful camera feature, I capture the world’s every moment in deep detail. Also, using the vivid and large display, anyone can easily review photos and show them to my friends in a huge screen! So don’t need to bring bulky DSLR everywhere you go and can take awesomely good photo!

Conclusion / Summary of Samsung Galaxy Note

The huge size of the Galaxy Note is the main reason to buy it. Till now, no other smartphone has such a big, beautiful screen. However, the size also creates a number of issues, short battery life and sheer unwieldiness being chief among them. If you can live with these drawbacks, you’ll find that this is one of the most powerful Android smart phones around, tackling apps and media with aplomb.

Samsung Galaxy Note will be available in Malaysia stores from 11 November onwards. If you want to grab one do go and check it out!
