When ppl talk about Geylang 芽笼路 (aka in Chinese Hokkien “鸡笼”), it’s always refer as red-light district of Singapore. Thousands of Asian prostitutes mostly from other countries like Thailand, Indonesia, China and Malaysia work in Geylang, and visitors and locals alike flock to the area each evening and stay till morning.
But I’m not talking about that k! Besides what it’s being famous for, it’s also famous for food, especially Fresh Frog Porridge!
Always wanted to try out the Fresh Frog Porridge but didn’t get to go, but it’s our fortune that it’s in SS2 now all the way from Singapore! There’s branch in Petaling Jaya now! Finally I get to try the famous fresh frog porridge.
1 Frog RM12, 2 Frogs RM24, 3 Frog RM33
Spring Onion Frog Leg 姜葱田鸡
Dry Chilli Frog Leg 宫保田鸡
Didn’t order Frog Porridge 田鸡粥 because cannot finish so many lo coz this also quite common in Malaysia so only tried the other type claypot type.
The White Porridge 白粥 itself also taste very good! It’s not watery type but it’s very thick, almost solid paste. (Different size RM3/RM4/RM5, just order RM5 if 3-4 person is sharing, if not enough then order another small or medium portion.)
Fried Hong Kong Cabbage 炸香港芥籣
Lemon Chicken 柠檬鸡
Overall the food is nice and worth to try but I personally think that it’s a bit on high price.
Restoran Geylang Lor 9 Fresh Frog Porridge

Have you test drive this Korean Kia Forte? If not pls head to your nearest Naza or KIA Motor showroom now before you even say that, “KIA wor… Why buy KIA?” “KIA good meh?” “KIA got resell value meh?” “KIA spare part expensive right?” etc…
For me I think this New NAZA KIA Forte will change entire perception about Korean car, hence next time you will not see ppl mention any sentence above. I personally think that it’s like Samsung where ppl will not buy or even thing for their appliances compared to Japanese brand like Sony or Panasonic etc, but now what you think about Samsung? Is the similar case.
For the spare part I think it should not be a problem as this NAZA KIA Forte will be CKD soon instead of CBU, so those spare part will be localize and furthermore it’s selling like hot cake and got positive review from Singapore and the price of this Forte is increasing in Singapore.
NAZA KIA Keyless Remote
Keyless entry button, you need to press the button with the keyless remote in your pocket near you!
There’s actually a key in this remote, check it out and this key is for emergency case like your remote is out of battery so you can’t enter the car, so you need to use the key to open your High tech NAZA KIA Forte, then use the charging dock to charge it before you start the engine! Coz you need batt in the remote for you to start your car too, if not it will not able to detect your remote key!
Push start button and the charging dock for the keyless remote.
There’s a safety feature implemented too, if you forget to take the remote out / leave your remote in the car, it will not allow you to lock your car! It’s a smart car don’t you think? Haha.
Go book your All New NAZA KIA Forte now for the CBU before it’s too late and regret getting CKD! If you are considering, pls consider higher specs of 1.6 which is 1.6SX or 2.0SX, don’t ever think about saving your money and get the lower specs 1.6EX which the interior is bad plasticky look / feel, no Air bags, not reverse assist, not 17″ alloy rim, no push start, no this and that… Haha. Go to try out yourself and now tell me is this worth or not compared to those Japanese car like Honda City, Toyota VIOS which is only in B Segment where else this NAZA KIA Forte is in C Segment!
If you want to wait, there will be 4 model releasing next year from KIA. One of them might be KIA Forte Koup and KIA K7 (very ying car but not cheap la…)
Reached there quite early, mingled around and took some photo while waiting for the awards. Very hungry that time but nothing to eat, so my last resort is eating Pringles, a lot of Pringles, almost few tube of it. Haha. Sponsored one ma!
Finally get in and the event started. Enjoyed the speeches, awards, magic show, live band while enjoying the dinner!
Menu of the day…
It was fine dining and I was not used to it. lol. I’m low class ppl who only go to mamak or “tai pai dong” la… see so many forks and spoons duno which one to use also… memper-siasui-kan la… damn. So what I do is, look at how other ppl use then only start to eat la… Look before you jump! =p
Kopi + Tea = Cham
Dish 1 – Bread. It supposed to be sliced and eat in small pieces but who cares, I just throw the whole piece into my mouth! haha hungry la.
Dish 2 – Marinated Smoke Tuna with Feta, Herb Salad and Balsamic Olive Oil
Dish 3 – Light Cream of Asparagus and Green Peas topped with a Chive Mousseline
Dish 4 – Rosemary Marinated Chicken Breast with Saffron Cheesy Mash Potato and Balsamic Reduction Mediterranean Vegetable in Mango Coriander Salsa Sauce
Dish 5 – Praline Halzenut Gateau with Raspberry Jelly
See the dish name also damn long… but I really don’t know how to enjoy the food ler, to me it’s no as good as other food I eat la, maybe this is because I’m not high class fellow, so kinda find it taste weird and not to mention the portion is very little too. lol. Anyway this is the 1st time I had a fine dine like this. Thanks to Nuffnang, a real good experience!
Apart from the NNAwards, as I have been using my Xpax BlackBerry throughout the trip, it cost me a lot, luckily there’s Xpax XXL Bonus. woo hoo so I got to save a lot and can earn some bonus from there. If you use more than RM300 and above it’s 16% wow. So when you reload RM300 you will get RM48, total up will be RM348! More info on Xpax XXL Bonushere.

There’s safe box to store my netbook/valuable stuffs and complimentary in-room broadband internet access so that I can online and update about the nnawards too. Good right?

Early in the morning reach Nuffnang office @ Heritage House, 33 Jalan Yap Ah Shak, around 7am+ but waited and mingled around till 9am then only we start our journey to Singapore. Not sure what’s the delay but this is the first time for Nuffnang to hold such big event and going down south with 3 buses of Bloggers from Malaysia for sure a difficult thing to co-ordinate and will not success without the co-operate from all the Bloggers. AM I right? =)
See even Sixthseal (Huai Bin) checking company mail while waiting there.
Sleep along the way to Singapore and stop by a few R&R and there wasted a lot of time too and finally reach Singapore @ 5pm. Woo hoo. Tot could go straight to bed and have a good nap but night mare, coz too many ppl and hard to manage, hence the check in process took more than 30mins – 1 hrs. Maybe next round could collect the passport, cash or credit card before reaching the hotel instead of running around looking for the blogger which scattered around. Arghh, not too patient. =p
I’ve been using my Xpax BlackBerry Curve 8520 to check twitter and do live update on the Singapore Nuffnang Awards trip all the way from Malaysia to Singapore. Cool right? =) So that my readers and follower will know what’s happening and to those that never go to the nnawards to keep an eye on the glamour event.
Will be posting the Nuffnang Awards Night and the rest of the interesting activities soon… found something good in Singapore 7-11! Want to know more? =)

It’s been a long time since my last visit to Singapore and I love shopping and enjoy the food in Singapore especially Katong Laksa. I would like to visit Singapore again and again because of the ppl and country which is rich blend in culture, cuisine, arts and architecture! Now it host F1 and Casino coming soon too which make me more excited.
1st thing to do when arrive in Singapore is to find foooood!
Katong Laksa, the noodles are normally cut up into smaller pieces so that the entire dish can be eaten with a spoon alone (that is, without chopsticks or a fork). Katong laksa is a strong contender for the heavily competed title of Singapore’s national dish. I only tasted once and loving it. 1st time eating Laksa using a spoon. Haha. It’s different from all the laksa you can get in Malaysia.
Also head to China Town, NZX 牛车水, in Singapore for food too!
2nd thing to do is go shopping…!
Bugis Street… pack with ppl. Can get something nice and cheap there!
Bugis Square with dancing fountain which a lot of kid likes to play there and feel relaxing.
Shopping definitely will be Orchard Road! Just so many shops and mall along the road and you can’t resist for the sales.
Then head to Queensway Shopping Centre to get sports shoe. Do you know that you can grab nice design sport shoe that you most probably can’t find in Malaysia and it’s cheap too!
After that head to Sim Lim Square to shop for some IT gadgets, it’s similar to our Lowyat Plaza. Some of the products that you can’t find in Malaysia, you can find it there as well, that’s why I love to visit that place.
Wahh… really shop till I drop this time. =p
3rd thing is visit the nature. Jurong Bird Park
4th thing to do is go to the happening night life place. Clarke Quay
Nice night spot to hang out and there’s plenty pub for us to drink and chit chat.
I want to try the Singapore’s first ever bungy – G-MAX Reverse Bungy! Be launched skywards at 200km per hour to a dazzling height of 60 meters! Experience G forces similar to those experienced by astronauts in a rocket launch, all in the safety of the latest G-MAX technology. Sure damn “Chi Kek!”
Want to take a ride on Singapore Flyer too! It’s similar to Eye On Malaysia as in the picture above?
I always visit this Singapore Visitors Centre to grab latest info and happenings and sales. If you need any guide or don’t know what to do? Just visit “Singapore Visitors Centre” it sure be helpful.
Haha… I don’t think all the mention above could be done in 1 day? Arghh…
Singapore’s most anticipated shopping extravaganza is back from 29 May to 26 July 2009. It is an eight-week “shopathon” to enjoy discounts of up to 70% on just about anything, anywhere. From the central shopping belt of Orchard Road and Marina Bay to the shopping precincts in the heartlands, you’ll find fantastic value on fashion, watches, jewellery, electronics and more.
Visitors can pick up the Great Singapore Sale Tourist Privilege Card to enjoy the exclusive promotions on retail offers including season’s hottest buys and also special privileges on lifestyle options ranging from dining, sightseeing, beauty and wellness to nightlife & entertainment.
Major stores and malls along Orchard Road and Marina Bay will be extending their opening hours till 11pm during weekends of the sale period. Wow this is really shop till you drop!
So be prepared more SGD and get tons of good back from Singapore. It’s a great time to shop now as it’s middle of the year so plan your holiday now and get yourself some quality time off to recharge yourself.
I myself love Singapore and every time I get there, I will look for tech stuff in Sim Lim Square it’s more or less the same like Malaysia Lowyat Plaza. There’s a lot of tech gadget that I consider cheaper than Malayasia. So do pay a visit there and get yourself some gadgets that is still not available in Malaysia. Enjoy and see you there!
My brother who is working in Singapore went to watch the badminton match live but he called me telling me that Lee Chong Wei lost to a Vietnam’s guy named Nguyen Tien Minh whom I do not even know who is that.
What a shame indeed but I thought this Singapore Open should be kacang putih for him because this biggest rival Lin Dan from China is not competing. Hope trashed. What more our double pair Koo Kien Keat & Tan Boon Heong also lost in the game. So this weekend I will not stick to the Singapore Open as both my favorite also lost.
KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei’s hopes of retaining his first badminton title outside Malaysia ended when he fell to a shock second round loss to Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh in the Singapore Open last night.
The tournament also lost its second seed after top Dane and former All-England champion Peter-Gade Christensen was bundled out 19-21, 21-16, 13-21 by India’s Anup Sridhar.
Stunner: Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh packed off Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei in the Singapore Open.
There was more bad news from the Malaysian doubles camp when top hopes and Swiss Open champions Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong fell to a surprise 13-21, 21-19, 21-14 defeat by England’s Nathan Robertson-Anthony Clark.
But it was the unheralded Vietnamese who produced the biggest upset of the tournament when he sent Chong Wei packing 24-22, 20-22, 21-19 in one hour.
The top seeded Malaysian failed to contain the onslaught from Tien Minh, who reached game point first to win the first game 24-22.
He then had Chong Wei hanging by the scruff of his neck before the Malaysian saved four game points to force a decider.
Chong Wei must have thought his problems were over when he led 18-16 in the decider but the Vietnamese caught up before eventually prevailing to secure his biggest career win so far.
It was the second successive early round setback for the Olympic silver medallist, after an upset stomach caused him to concede a first round defeat to China’s Chen Long in the Indian Open in March.
Malaysia will have no representative in the men’s singles after veteran Wong Choong Hann failed to get the better of Bao Chunlai of China.
The unseeded Chinese won 21-16, 21-17 in 36 minutes to set up a quarter-final clash with Tien Minh.
Kien Keat-Boon Heong’s defeat left former national pair Gan Teik Chai-Tan Bin Shen as the unlikely survivors in the men’s doubles.
Teik Chai-Bin Shen beat Fang Chieh-min-Lee Mu-shen 21-16, 21-15 and will play fourth seeds Lars Paaske-Jonas Rasmussen of Denmark for a place in the semi-finals.
In the women’s doubles, top seeds Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty made it to the last eight after beating Dutch pair Rachel Van Cutsen-Paulien Van Dooremalen 21-16, 21-15.
