Bank Negara Malaysia is pleased to announce the introduction of Malaysia’s new currency series. Launched by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak, the new currency series comprises newly designed banknotes and coins. The banknotes issued are in the denominations of RM1, RM5, RM10, RM20 and RM100 and will be available for circulation in the second half of 2012. The RM50 denomination banknote for the new currency series is already in circulation. For this new series, polymer substrate is used to make the RM1 and RM5 banknotes.
The coins for this series, with denominations of 5 sen, 10 sen, 20 sen and 50 sen, were launched earlier on 25 July 2011 and will be introduced into circulation in January 2012.
The latest series of Malaysian banknotes draws its inspiration from the distinctive features of Malaysia, incorporating elements of the country’s natural treasures, culture and heritage. Themed ‘Distinctively Malaysia’, the banknotes features traditional expressions in the art and craft, natural wonders, flora and fauna and the economy.
The new series of banknotes incorporated enhanced security features in line with the latest advancements in banknote technology. The security features for the new banknotes include shadow image, clear window, watermark portrait with pixel and highlighted numerals, colour shifting security thread, micro lens thread, perfect see-through register, coloured glossy patch for public recognition. Other features include tactile identification which enables the visually impaired to identify and distinguish the different denominations.
Bank Negara Malaysia is issuing commemorative banknotes to mark the introduction of the new currency series. Three types of commemorative banknote collections will be offered for sale as follows:
-A collection of two banknotes (RM1 and RM5 denomination) – 500,000 sets priced at RM15.00 each.
-A collection of a single banknote (RM20 denomination) – 500,000 sets priced at RM30.00 each.
-A collection of six banknotes (RM1, RM5, RM10, RM20, RM50 and RM100 denominations) – 50,000 sets priced at RM300.00 each. For each set of this collection, all the banknote denominations will carry the same serial number.
Malaysian Banknotes Design
The Obverse Side of the Banknote
All banknote denominations in the new series retain the portrait of the first Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Rahman ibni Tuanku Muhammad, the national flower Rosa-sinensis hibiscus (known locally as the ‘Bunga Raya’), the face value of the banknote, the words ‘Bank Negara Malaysia’ as the issuing authority of the banknotes and patterns of traditional woven fabric the ‘songket’ which are in the background and edges of the banknote to reflect traditional Malaysian textile handicraft and embroidery. Other features include the tactile identification for the visual impaired, watermark portrait with pixel and highlighted numerals.
The Reverse Side of the Banknote
The reverse side of each banknote features different elements of nature, tradition, culture, flora, fauna and the economy that are distinctively Malaysian. The new banknotes also retain the Bank Negara Malaysia logo, serial numbers, Jawi wordings and songket weave patterns on the reverse side of the banknotes.
The motifs for each of denomination are as follows:
Mount Kinabalu and pinnacles rock formations of Gunung Api valley
Oil Palm and Biotechnology
The Hawksbill and Leatherback Turtle
‘Wau Bulan’ (Moon Kite)
The new series banknotes are legal tender and will co-circulate with the existing series. The existing series will be gradually phased out.

Vendors of cash handling machines will be given six months to calibrate their machines to ensure convenience for the use of the new banknotes.

An uncanny bak kwa superhero (Weng Heong) has burst into the social media scene, leaving almost half a million Internet viewers agape with the made-in-Malaysia cartoon hero.
It’s a really awesome YouTube video that I have seen and it required interaction from the viewers, which requires viewers to click the pause and mute buttons and rewind the video to assist Yok Man 肉问 in winning his fight.
1930′s, on the eve of World War II, the Japanese Empire was eyeing the Malaysian food industry. In order to destroy the anti-Japanese forces in Kuala Lumpur, the Japanese have sent spies for infiltrating missions. The young Yok Man has been implicated by the incident…
Below is the 1st episode of the Yok Man which uploaded early of the year!
KUALA LUMPUR: An uncanny bak kwa superhero has burst into the social media scene, leaving almost half a million Internet viewers agape with the made-in-Malaysia cartoon hero.
The Rice of Yok Man (loosely translated as “the rise of meat man”) is a four-minute video about flat-faced Yok Man, whose character was inspired by the dried sliced meat (known as bak kwa) taking the form of famous Wing Chun martial arts master Ip Man.
Bak kwa is a traditional delicacy enjoyed by the Chinese community, particularly during the Chinese New Year.
“We put up the video on Facebook on Tuesday and by mid-Friday, it had already recorded 444,485 views.
“At last count, there were over 195,000 Facebook likes for the video and about 200 tweets containing positive comments on the video circulated by audiences from many countries, who were all fascinated by the concept,” said PCT Innovations director Wilson Pee, whose online advertising agency was responsible for the production of Yok Man.
The story is set against a hypothetical backdrop of World War II, with the Japanese portrayed as having the desire to conquer the Malaysian food industry.
A food war ensues between the Japanese warlords (who take the form of a sushi and a tempura) and the Malaysian camp , represented by Yok Man and his martial arts compatriots, the egg-head named Double-Yolk Egg and the feminine Seremban Siew Bao.
Witty lines in the Cantonese dialect lace the interactive video, which requires viewers to click the pause and mute buttons to assist Yok Man in winning his fight.
The video with English and Chinese subtitles was created as a publicity gimmick for a local dried meat company.
“Response to the video was massive.
“Our business has picked up since the video went online,” Wing Heong Food Industries Sdn Bhd managing director Yap Sooi Cheng said. Pee said Yok Man was produced completely by its creative team all Malaysians aged below 25.
“Creativity abounds in the young people and they can do marvellous things, whether or not they are certified,” Pee quipped, referring to the proposed Computing Professionals Bill which came under fire from information technology professionals recently.
Under the Bill, the Government would set up a board to oversee the registration of computing practitioners, computing professionals, sole proprietorships, partnerships and corpo rate bodies providing computing services.

I have started off with a better food diet and I can really see my health improvement! It’s not only losing weight but it’s also being healthier and feels good when you eat right and healthy! When you are healthier, you feel better, and when you feel better, it is much easier to stick to a diet.

Obesity: Malaysia is No. 1 in Southeast Asia
This is a really serious and worsened situation now and obesity seems like a trend. Out of 10 people I think a few people already in the obesity stage (I’m one of them!) and it’s not a healthy situation right now! There’s 7 steps below which will help you to stay healthy!
Cegah Sebelum Terlambat! 7 Cara Untuk Mencapai Berat Badan Unggul
1) Ketahui Indeks Jasim Tubuh (BMI) Anda. [Know your BMI]
2) Makan Ikut Keperluan [Eat the right portion]
3) Makan Sayur Dan Buah Pada Setiap Waktu Hidangan Utama [Eat more vegetables and fruits]
4) Kurangkan Makanan Bergoreng Dan Berlemak [Eat less oily and fried stuff]
5) Tingkatkan Tahap Aktiviti Fizikal Anda – Amalkan 10,000 Langkah Setiap Hari [Walk more]
6) Percaya Anda Boleh Lakukan [Believe on yourself that you could do it]
7) Dapatkan Sokongan Daripada Kawan Dan Keluarga [Get your friends and relative to support]
Exercise Often! Do it now!
It is unavoidable. Physical activity is essential to healthy living. The body was meant to move, and when it does not, it can become unhappy and ill. Physical activity stimulates the body’s natural maintenance and repair systems that keep it going.
It improves blood circulation to our heart and lungs. It gives us strength to stave off injuries, and it increases the mobility in our muscles and joints. Physical activity also releases endorphins; the feel good hormones that create a sense of general well being. Physical activity is good for the body and the mind.
I walk 5 stories daily at my office from Basement 2 to Level 3!
Exercises include brisk walking, cycling, dancing, swimming, rowing, elliptical workouts and jogging. Yoga, and pilates are also good exercise workouts. So do plan your exercise!
Have you ever heard of the saying “you are what you eat” or “garbage in garbage out”? Well, it is true. What you put into your body directly affects how you feel physically, your mood, your mental clarity, your internal workings, and even your skin.
Eating healthy does not mean eating expensive foods with little taste. As a matter of fact, there are some fantastic health recipes online and in cookbooks that are very healthy. Basically, you want to aim for a diet that is low in salt, fat and unprocessed foods and is high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and omega-3 fatty acids. It is also good to take a multi vitamin to ensure you are meeting your nutrient requirements.
A food guide pyramid is a triangular or pyramid-shaped nutrition guide divided into sections to show the recommended intake for each food group. Eat more Fruits and Vegetables. Less Oily and Fat food! That’s the healthy diet!
Use the food pyramid as a guide to how much of what to eat. Eat less processed foods and reduce your sugar intake.
- Regulate your portion sizes (a portion is about the size of your fist)
- Eat a lot of fresh locally produced vegetables and fruits
- Reduce the amount of meat you eat.
Don’t Stress yourself too much!
We have got to get rid of all of this stress. Stress happens when your life becomes out of balance physically, mentally or emotionally. This imbalance can be caused by internal stress like worrying too much, environmental stress like pressure from work, family or friends, or by stress from being fatigued or overworked. Being stressed out has the potential to affect your health in a variety of ways.
You can become tired, sick, tense, irritable, and unable to think clearly. If you want to live a healthy lifestyle, you will need to manage the stress in your life so that it does not overtake you. This means taking charge of your thoughts, emotions, tasks, and environment to get your body back in balance.
Do laugh as often as you can and if you are stress try to talk to your friends and let your friend help you on something that might be able to solved easily!
So, even if you opt for small changes and a more modest weight loss, you can see the benefits are still pretty good. Start living healthy from today and you will see the different on yourself!
You can do it!

What’s Facebook’s Timeline? Have you heard of Timeline in Facebook? Do you find Timeline cool and awesome? Yes indeed it’s a better way of sorting and presenting your Facebook profile and it’s more organized according to the time that you posted or being tagged in Facebook!
Have you enabled your profile Timeline in Facebook yet? If not here’s some simple tip on how to enable it!
Here’s some simple way of enabling it instead of some tedious way of doing it few months back! Now, it’s a whole lot easier, you can enable the Timeline in Facebook with one click yes only 1 click! Then publish it for all to see with one more.
The best part is, after you click the “Get Timeline” button, you have seven days until it automatically goes live, but until then, you’re the only one who will see it until you authorize it to be published. However, if you don’t want to wait seven days, you can publish it any time by clicking “Publish Now”.
So for 7 days after you opt in, you can go through and edit whatever you’d like to hide from all your Facebook friends and followers, making sure your privacy is intact. Once you’ve pruned your Facebook Timeline to your comfort level, click the “Publish Now” button, and all your timeline goodness is immediately displayed for all to see.
Here’s the Simple Steps on enabling your Timeline in Facebook!
1. Be sure you’re logged into your Facebook account.
2. Go to the About Timeline page.
3. Click on “Get Timeline.” (As shown in the print screen above)
4. Scroll down on your timeline and edit or remove any items you don’t want shown. Do that by holding your cursor over the upper right of the item you want to edit, and then make your choice on the drop-down list.
5. From that list you can change the date of the item, add a location, hide it from the timeline, delete the post altogether, or report it/mark it as spam.
6. If you’d like to “feature” any of the posts, click on the star icon to the left of that pencil icon, and that item will be expanded all the way across the page, made larger for all your friends to see.
7. Once you’re satisfied with all the edits you’ve made, either go back to the top of the Timeline and click “Publish Now” or do nothing and it’ll be automatically published on December 22.
Start with your cover on your Facebook Timeline
Your cover appears above your profile picture, and it’s the first thing people see when they visit your timeline. Choose a unique photo from your life to feature on your cover.
Note: Just like profile pictures, your cover photos are public.
Here’s my old profile without Timeline. Do you feel it’s better looking and better presentation in Timeline?
