Yummylicious Penang Food @ Penang One – Bandar Puteri Puchong
One fine day, the wife says “I REALLY REALLY missed Penang Food.” It would take us at least 4.5 hours to drive there :/ But, I remembered seeing this Penang something restaurant, few shops away from KPMC. And so I decided to take her to this restaurant to satisfy her cravings.
The restaurant was full house but luckily we had a short wait, about 5 minutes 🙂
Apparently, Penang One is dedicated to serving a collection of Penang famous street food, each of it are prepared by the original chefs. This cosy, relaxed eatery will have you feeling at home in no time.
The menu contains detailed description of each food and the price is reasonable.

Pulau Tikus Keong Curry Mee
This Pulau Tikus Keong Curry Mee (RM8.50) varies a little from the usual curry mee you can find any where here.
(RM11.90), Loh Bak or meat rolls wrapped in bean curd skin and deep fried to golden brown, maintaining its crispy-ness and at the same time, preserving the soft and tender meat. (Prawn fritters, friend bean curd and century eggs). Worth to try too!
Paya Terubong “Aunty Cheng” Rojak (Infront Toto)
(RM7.50), Rojak Penang style salad is a savory fruit and vegetable salad. Heako (prawn paste) and honey to the mixture, emphasizes on the use of tart fruits such as raw mangoes, pineapple and guava, top with crush peanuts and balacan (deep fried shrimp powder). The taste of rojak is very dependent on the sauce I would say and this is really good!
Tee Nya Kueh
Tee Nya Kueh 甜仔糕 RM3.50, This is actually rice cake with alkaline taste served with palm syrup (gula melaka) as dipping. It’s our first time trying this kueh. I find the texture springy and a bit jelly liked.

This Swatow Lane New World Park Ice Kacang (Lee Brothers) (RM6.50) really awesome specially with the “kacang” ice cream!
Ambra Juice with Sour Plum (aka umbra aka kedondong) -this fruit is called ‘sar lei’ in Cantonese. This juice is refreshing and it’s said to aid digestion and prevent dehydration.
Nutmeg Juice – I’ve eaten nutmeg but it’s really my first time having it juiced. Taste wise, it’s a bit strange but after awhile, it seems quite ok. Like ambra, nutmeg is beneficial to us.
Did you know? – In Arab countries, nutmeg is valued as an aphrodisiac [substance believed to increase sexual desire].
We are definitely visiting again to try out other dishes in the menu. Ouch, I’m hungry dy! ~~
