Ushering The Lunar Year With Sounds of Over 200 Drums in Chinatown!

Initiated by the Malaysian Chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation (EO) in line with its theme, Delivering Happiness and supported by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia, Drumming Up The Nation is a cultural and musical showcase of over 200 drums from Malaysia’s diverse ethnic groups reverberating in unison throughout Kuala Lumpur ’s Chinatown to usher the Year of the Snake.

Ushering The Lunar Year With Sounds of Over 200 Drums in Chinatown!

Drumming Up The Nation promises to be the biggest ever street party in Malaysian history held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Street Celebrations at Petaling Street on Sunday, February 17, 2013 between 5.00pm to 10.00pm.

Other highlights of the programme include abseiling performances by the Malaysian Armed Forces; performances and acrobatic feats by the World’s No. 1 Champion Lion Dance Association; Theatrical & Lights Production showcasing the rich history of Chinatown; live stage performances by various artists, a 200 drumming session that will include the public; hawker food-fare; pyrotechnic and fireworks.

The event is free to the general public with lots of goodies from the sponsors such as free chicken from Nandos, hair styling by Code 10, and Chinese paper cuttings. Come and enjoy yourself with some free food too k!

For added convenience and to ensure visitors enjoy Chinatown’s famed hawker food-fare, Jalan Sultan will be closed to traffic and turned into a walking thoroughfare on February 17 between 5.00pm to 10.00 pm. There will be a carnival like atmosphere with non–stop entertainment throughout.

It is a celebration of unity, harmony, joy and splendor of Malaysians from various races in true 1Malaysia spirit. Come let’s join the fun this Sunday ya!
