This popular four-door subcompact car was first introduced in the year 2002 for the Asia Pacific region. It was originally a replacement for the Tercel. Toyota aimed for the Vios to fill-in the B-segment class, under the Camry and Corolla. It was also to compete in the compact sedan segment against strong contenders like the Honda City, Nissan Sentra, and Mazda 2.
