I turned 30 on 10th July 2014 – the “BIG-three” as they say. Another year older and hopefully wiser. My wife and I went to Acme Bar & Coffee (ABC) at The Troika to celebrate my birthday. We wanted a casual dining restaurant with nice ambience so Acme Bar makes the perfect choice. Acme Bar & Coffee is located at The Troika in KL which is just a stone throw away from KLCC. Acme Bar & Coffee is a casual dining restaurant with elegant decor and nice ambience. Stepping inside this restaurant makes you feel like being in a cafe somewhere in New York City. Acme Bar serves western cuisine with a touch of Asian influence. The menu is extensive, offering familiar dishes with a creative twist. Cappuccino Though I already had my coffee earlier that day, I just couldn’t resist ordering coffee at Acme Bar. The barista drew a cute teddy art on my cappuccino. Nice presentation. Chunky Mushroom Soup The chunky mushroom soup is more of an ‘Asian Mushroom Soup’ with Chinese influence as the ingredients are made of rice wine, morels & mantau pau croutons. The mushroom soup is lightly gingered which taste rather unique but will not appeal to all. I think it’s edible but the wifey finds it weird and I had to finish it :/ Toasted Chicken & Avocado Panini A sun dried tomato bread with Caesar dressing is layered with roasted free range chicken, avocado & gruyere cheese. The panini is served with a side salad and sweet potato crips. It’s light and healthy but taste-wise, I would say its average. Smoked Duck Breast Pasta Spaghetti carbonara with few slices of smoked duck breast and topped with Parmesan cheese. The pasta dish was mediocre. Acme Bar & Coffee at The Troika is a casual dining restaurant which is stylishly designed. The friendly staff and charming environment makes it perfect for gathering with friends, colleagues, families or with your significant other. While the place is nice, the food which I’ve tried at Acme Bar is mediocre at best and overpriced. However, the Sizzling Brownie & Oreo Ice Cream is real good! If you have a sweet tooth and love dessert, I highly recommend trying this. It’s best to make a reservation earlier as this place is always packed especially on weekends. Read more...
