It’s pretty common for first-time parents to buy everything and anything that a baby could ever need only to find out later that some of the things are unnecessary. When I was pregnant with Aiden, I started shopping for baby stuffs in my second trimester and I sure had lots of fun shopping for baby things π However, when everything looks pretty and cute, it’s very easy to get carried away and buy everything on the shelves only to realize later that we actually don’t need some of the stuffs :/ To avoid spending unnecessarily, I came out with a list of the βmust haveβ and βnice to haveβ baby items π I’ve earlier posted a Newborn Checklist to share with mommies-to-be out there π I have friends asking me what are the baby items that are worth buying and what’s not and so I thought I’ll just write a post on my favorite baby items. Hopefully first-time parents will find this post useful when shopping for baby things π Do share with me what are your favorite baby items too π
Peg Perego Pliko 3 Compact
Stroller is one of the bigger investments all parents make coz it keeps baby or child safe. With so many brands out there (Stokke, Peg Perego, Bugaboo, 4Moms Origami, Graco) in the market, you’ll be spoiled for choice. I settled on Peg Perego Pliko 3 Compact which folds very easily and easy to carry around. However, I only started using stroller when Aiden is over 3 months and has good head control. Initially he refuses to sit in his stroller but after a few attempts, he seems to enjoy his stroller ride π
Ergobaby Original Baby Carrier
My Ergobaby carrier is my best friend when I’m out and about or when I travel coz with it I can have my hands free while keeping Aiden cozy and secure – it’s like killing two birds with a stone π I’ve been traveling without a stroller, just baby carrier and Aiden’s happy and we had no problem π I love this carrier coz it’s comfortable for me and my baby; I don’t feel any backache after wearing Aiden for long hours and he’s of coz very happy to be close to his mommy π
Mesh Baby Bouncer
Besides baby cot, we got a traditional old-style bouncer for Aiden and we’re very glad that we bought it coz he loved it and sleeps perfectly well in his bouncer. I suppose the bouncer is very comfortable to sleep on coz the mesh cover is pretty airy and it’s also washable. Also, it has a safety strap to prevent your baby from sliding down. I know people who have their baby sleeping in their crib immediately but we only switched him to his crib at 4 months. We all know that newborns spend a lot of time sleeping hence it’s important for them to sleep comfortably and when they sleep well, they cry less too π
Bumbo Seat
When Aiden was 4 months old, he was still not strong enough to sit unaided but sometimes he gets unhappy lying down hence I put him in his Bumbo Seat. He was able to sit and play with his toys and also enjoy his meals π The bumbo seat features a high back support to aid the babies posture and a low seat to support their bottom too. The size of the leg hole is a bit small hence it can be a bit tight for chubbier babies. The seat is made of lightweight material hence it’s advisable for parents to be more cautious and only use it on the floor.
IKEA baby bath tub
My baby has always loved bath time and now that he’s 11months old, bath time is like his play time coz he gets to splash water happily and when I’m lucky, I’ll only be partially wet and if I’m not, I’ll be fully wet and I gotta change my clothes too. I love the IKEA bath tub coz it comes with soft anti-slip protection in the bottom, big enough for babies to use till about 2-3 years old and the price is really economical for a basic baby bath tub π At only RM19.90, it’s available at IKEA Store π
Fisher Price ‘Ocean Wonders’ Soothe & Glow Seahorse
My mum bought the Fisher Price Soothe and Glow Seahorse for Aiden cox she thought the seahorse design itself is cute and Aiden will like it π Anyway, the seahorse is available in pink and blue and there’s about 8 different lullabies with a soothing orange light glow. Because of its small size, I usually just place it in Aiden’s arms as bedtime nears to soothe and calm him down and until today Aiden still love it very much π
3-in-1 Fisher Price Rainforest Friends Infant to Toddler Rocker
This 3-in-1 Fisher Price Rainforest Friends Infant to Toddler Rocker is a very good buy coz this rocker can be used for playing, feeding and also resting! The rocker has a calming vibration feature to soothe babies but I’ve never used it before. Aiden loves sitting on his Fisher Price, whether it’s feeding, playing his toys or just resting, he absolutely loves sitting on it π
I believe I’ll have more favorite baby items as Aiden grows older coz as he grows he’ll need different things and plays with different toys π
