What’s a “Krispy Kreme?”
When people talk about a Krispy Kreme doughnut, they’re usually referring to our signature treat: the Original Glazed. Made from a recipe dating back to the 1930s, our Original Glazed doughnuts have helped set us apart. And if you haven’t had an Original Glazed HOT off the line, you need to try one!

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 — No one needs to dream of Krispy Kreme or request from friends in Jakarta.

Doughnut maker Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc said yesterday it has a franchise agreement to establish 20 retail shops in Malaysia in the next five years.

The agreement is with Berjaya Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Sdn Bhd, a 70 per cent-owned subsidiary of Berjaya Corporation Berhad — tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan’s listed company that already has interests in property investment and development; vacation timeshare, hotels, resorts and recreation development; consumer marketing and direct selling; financial services and gaming.

“Having a well-respected QSR franchisee like BCorporation introduce Krispy Kreme in Malaysia is an exciting opportunity,” said Jeff Welch, senior vice-president and general manager of global franchise operations and development for Krispy Kreme.

“BCorporation has significant franchise experience in Malaysia, and we look forward to working with them to share the one-of-a-kind Krispy Kreme experience with consumers there.”

Berjaya currently holds the Starbucks, Wendy’s, Kenny Rogers Roasters and Papa John’s Pizza franchises in Malaysia.

Krispy Kreme already is in 14 countries, including the US, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and Qatar. Last month, Krispy Kreme announced plans to develop about 25 franchise locations in Turkey.

The expansions come despite Krispy Kreme’s financial struggles. The company reported its first profitable quarter in more than a year in June. The chain has faced allegations of former management misconduct, a nationwide trend towards healthier eating and bankruptcy filings by several franchisees.

This blog is a platform to share what I love in life: food (eat), travel (play), photography (art) and life (thoughts and ideas). With passion for food, I share my foodie adventures and indulgences here. “There is no love sincerer than the love of food.”

Traveling makes us a better human being as we recognise the similarities and celebrate the differences of cultures between where we travel to and where we come from. “The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”

Photography do more than just capturing the best moments in our lives; they also help us tell our life stories. “Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
