SERVICE INTERRUPTION
Dear Valued Customers,
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) wishes to announce that there is a disruption of its Internet services due to circuit faults on the SMW3 between Tuas, Singapore and Penang linking Malaysia to Hong Kong and APCN2 near Chongming, China connecting Malaysia to the United States. As a result, customers using the Internet services may experience slow browsing while accessing websites hosted in the U.S. and Hong Kong.
In addition, customers using other IP services such as Virtual Private Network (VPN) and other critical business applications linked to the U.S. and Hong Kong may also experience some service degradation.
To alleviate the problem, some of the links have been rerouted to alternate routes to ease the congestion.
Restoration works on the affected cables are already in progress. However, during the restoration process, traffic to Northern America and Hong Kong may experience degradation. However, traffic to other countries will not be affected. TM expects complete recovery of its services by 5 April 2009 and will make further announcements on the progress of the restoration works.
TM wishes to assure its customers that it is undertaking all necessary measures to restore communications services for its customers as soon as possible.

i dunno wether is my router caused slowness or streamyx itself…
since it is very very unstable…
sometime raise to 2mbps as usual but within a few seconds… it can drop to 1kbps-5kbps…
anyone pro fixing router??? I m using d-link dir 300…. help me pls T.T

my streamyx download speed is still slow,no disconnect but very slow,download speed only gettin about 1-5 kbps
im paying for 384 kbps connection,normaly gettin 40-45 kb before this

Experienced the same thing here in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Very slow download 30 KB/s only. Used to be 150 KB/s with my 1 Mbps streamyx. Now everthing is very slow not like it used to be anymore.. SAD
TMNET promised to restore everything on the 17th but doesnt looked like they can keep their promised.. SIGH

All you can say about TM net is that they are the shame of the nation. Think about it… if you go to the market and pay 100% for a product but only get 80% (from the 5 mangoes you only get 4) the whole market will be upside down. TM net claims “fair share”.
So we pay for what TM net does not do. My view over the 4 years here in Malaysia? TM net is a rip off where the top is busy filling their pockets over the backs of us users. And I am not talking about P2P or torrents. They are anyway heavily shaped. I am talking about people who use the net, have websites and blogs running. TM net is not able to work. The top doesn’t want to invest, and if there is money, it disappears in the wallet of a few big fat people who run the organization.
Try to call the “service” line. Half of the time someone disconnects you. Calls are closed without you being informed. But TM has proclaimed themselves as “broadband champion” and delivers “exceptional service”. The arrogance is unbelievable.

Let me make this statement here; TM net IS able to give you the value you pay for.
I have been making noise to TM net now for 4 years. This time a team of 3 experts from Ipoh came to check it out. They later told me it would all be easy explained as they were expecting me to use heavy P2P and torrents. However, I was downloading a file with 4ks speed, 160 MB in 5 hrs.
They spend an hour and a half in the house but couldn’t solve the problem. Instead they gave me a fixed line, fixed IP adress.. and boy… that line is flying.
What it proves is this:
the infrastructure may be a problem but it’s not the main problem
the backbone may not be fantastic but thats not the main problem too.
No my friends, what they don’t do proper, by words of one of the guys here, is the connection of the dynamic IP addresses. Apparently they put too many per port, so no wonder the speed is slow. But trust me, I see things flying here, in the last 4 years I have never seen it THAT fast.
Unfortunately later this week they will come back and give me my own line back which will result again in slow browsing, slow downloading and time to have showers.

2 weeks fixed line was like normal breathing. Now, back to my own account, dynamic IP, it s*cks as always. THe “service” desk is as bad as always, solving problems is not what TM net does, nor even wants. WHen yesterday they terminated the fixed IP line, they didn’t inform me, nor solved the problems. In fact, the technician in Ipoh bluntly said they had not done anything… that is what they call service… TM net is a joke. a bad one.

I pay rm 160.00 per mouth for high speed internet (4.0 mb per sec).But after 5 days,it give me a problem from max speed to really slow one.Im soo mad about it.
Im totally f@*k up that tm.net!

My TM net technician told me TM net is not able to give a better speed then 1mbs line. Obviously this depends on where you live but the “helpdesk” once told me a “faster line” would solve all my problems. The technician told me the opposite. The best way to improve speed is a fixed IP address. I have had that for a while and that is a lot faster 1mbs fixed compared to 1 mbs random.
Still, my speed nowadays with a normal 1mbs line is good. Except of course for torrents, rapidshare (normal use) and p2p. These are anyway heavy limited. its 21st march 2010 and i’ve been unable to connect to the internet for the 2nd day now…it keeps disconnecting for every 5 seconds and i have to reboot the router and it will stays connected for another 5 seconds…i call tmnet and they said my line is fine and they asked me to ‘try and see’…i sign up for 1mb unlimited internet access and ow i got unlimited dc…can i sue this stupid company?
