Malaysia – ‘Sexy’ school uniforms to stay (Baju Kurung)

Who sexier?

Dress code debacle: An Islamic group condemned girls’ school uniform, saying it encouraged rape and pre-marital sex.

I think that’s stupid plain excuses saying “encouraged rape and pre-marital sex”. Do you think it’s the factor? Is the Baju Kurung really sexy?? Compared to other Country like Japan or Western Country? haha

I think it’s human factor! To prevent crime and prevent rape cases it’s everybody’s responsibility.

School uniform sexy, says group

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian group condemned the uniform worn by girls at government schools, saying it encouraged rape and pre-marital sex.

“The white blouse is too transparent for girls and it becomes a source of attraction,” National Islamic Students Association of Malaysia vice-president Munirah Bahari said in a statement.

“It becomes a distraction to men, who are drawn to it, whether or not they like looking at it,” she said, calling for a review of uniform policy so that it did not violate Islamic ideals.

In multicultural Malaysia, home to majority-Muslim Malays as well as ethnic Chinese and Indians, female students at government schools have a choice of wearing a white blouse with a knee-length skirt or pinafore.

They may also wear a “baju kurung” and a headscarf is optional for Malay students.

Munirah said that “covering up” according to Islamic precepts was important to fend off social ills, including “rape, sexual harassment and even premarital sex.”

“This leads to babies born out of wedlock and, to an extent, even prostitution,” she said.

“Decent clothes which are not revealing can prevent and protect women from any untoward situations,” she said, suggesting that girls wear a blouse of a different colour or with an undergarment.

However, the girls themselves also came in for criticism, with the association saying that some used the white blouse to lure men.

“This is the source of the problem, where we can see that schoolgirls themselves are capable of using this to attract men to them,” Munirah said.

“This could see them getting molested, having premarital sex and all sorts of things.” – AFP

and now…

‘Sexy’ school uniforms to stay

PALOH: The Education Minister dismissed talk that the current uniform worn by girls in government schools, which has been in use for decades, was too “sexy” and that it contributed to rape and other immoral acts.

Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein said the uniform would probably not change much in the next few years.

He said that he personally felt it was unfair to blame the students or their uniforms for sexual crimes committed against them.

“It is unfair to punish women and children for the clothes they wear for the act of the rapist,” he said, adding that he could not allow such stereotyping to continue.

“Clothing is not the main consideration for those who commit despicable acts like these,” he said, in reference to the National Islamic Students Association of Malaysia’s condemnation of the uniform for being too sexy.

The association said the uniform encouraged rape and pre-marital sex.

Hishammuddin said that although he believed that changing the uniforms would not reduce sexual crimes committed against schoolgirls, he would refer the matter to experts within his ministry before making a decision.

  1. Munirah said that “covering up” according to Islamic precepts was important to fend off social ills, including “rape, sexual harassment and even premarital sex.”

Sometimes covering all up will make things worse. It will even increase the curiosity of the raper.

However, some of the guys told me that the way a girl dress will stimulate their male sex hormone. Lol.. I don’t know is it true?

  3. I think the Malaysian uniform in the first picture is good. There are uniforms like that here in the Philippines. And I think it’s the way someone wears something that makes it sexy (or encouraged rape and pre-marital sex).

  5. So,many times that i heard about a Malaysian Islamic Ministry trying to make the suggestion about an Islamic woman must wear a clothes covered their naked body so that man will never attract to the woman body. Many,of my Muslim Girlfriend said that eventhough an Islamic and non islam woman wear a skirt or etc about it have being make an appeal say it can’t get rape, sexual harassement and sexual immorality so it always still get it again after they wear without sexy within themselves. It’s,really cramps, damps and dumps into their imagination thought in every concepts of wearing followed religion they thinks like a skinhead.

  7. The Muslim men forget the Islamic teaching about the men’s ‘hijab’, I suppose. That is,where women are supposed to be covered up, men are supposed to ‘look down’.

If they look up, then it should follow that they’re as ‘promiscuous’ as can be.

Look down, Muslim guys, don’t break the hijab law. How easily that precept is forgotten in a patriarchal construct.

  8. They call THOSE “sexy” uniforms!!!!!! What the heck is wrong with these people, those are the ugliest and totally “unsexiest” uniforms I’ve seen. I’m a girl and I would never put THAT on. If they think its too “sexy” then they should just change the colors! Like they say, there is nothing like my country, the U.S. I really do like my uniform better now…

  10. To Shanik: Okay, I agree with you that those uniforms are not what we would call “attractive” but you’re being too arrogant. US is a great country, but you shouldn’t disrespect other countries by saying “there is nothing like my country” That is being rude, if we say that I’ve read many complaints from U.S citizens saying they hate their uniforms. I guess there even are some who would love to use Baju Kurung

  12. I know what you mean. I really didn’t mean it to sound that way but I just think they’re being too strict, I apologize. What I meant is that every country is unique in their own way and I like the way my system works, that’s all. Sorry if I offende anyone.

  13. Hi,
Im also still a high school student and i think the uniforms are awesome.
but i think that they should at least change the color of the white shirt because it turns transparent when we sweat and sometimes even if we don’t sweat, it still looks transparent!

especially the pinafore which is showing off the side part of the white shirt and people often can see their bra straps at the side…

I feel very uncomfortable when wearing the uniform…:(

    I hope you guys understand!

  15. Sexuality is actually from the mind: those who claim the uniform as sexy , will perceived it as such in their mind.

That said, we cannot go around trying to censored the whole world of everything that seem sexy.

Get real, people keep their fetish thoughts to themselves.
