Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Earth Hour was conceived by WWF and The Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. Following Sydney’s lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008. Earth Hour 2011 will take place on March 26, 2011 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at participants’ respective local time.
Earth Hour is about taking simple steps everyday that collectively reduce carbon emissions – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby.
What Will You Be Doing During The Earth Hour?
Here are 10 different ways to spend Earth Hour and reduce your carbon footprint:
1. Attend a local Earth Hour event or organise your own by throwing an Earth Hour street party with your neighbours
2. Gather family & friends for a night picnic in your local park and look at the stars
3. Enjoy a family dinner by candlelight
4. Organise a treasure hunt in the dark
5. Take the dog for a night walk
6. Have a candle-lit bath
7. Sit in the dark and share stories
8. Organise a family night playing board games
9. Share a romantic night in with your loved one
10. Upload your ‘on the night’ photos and videos to flickr and YouTube respectively, and then add them to the Earth Hour flickr group and the global YouTube Group.
WWF-Malaysia invites members of the public to stand together with the world in a global celebration of the one thing that unites us all – our living planet. From its inception as a single-city initiative in 2007, Earth Hour has grown into a global movement where hundreds of millions of people from every continent join together to acknowledge the importance of protecting our planet. Earth Hour 2010 was the largest voluntary action for the environment in history with lights going out across 128 countries and over 4,500 cities worldwide.

Earth Hour 2011 on 26th March prepares to showcase a growing global community committed to taking environmental actions that go beyond the hour. From now until Earth Hour 2012, WWF-Malaysia is urging everyone across the nation to take Earth Hour beyond the hour by signing up at wwf.org.my and pledging to “Live Green: One switch at a time”; taking simple actions towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
Besides that, where will you be this Saturday during the Earth Hour? Some ppl suggest that go Lookout Point @ Ulu Langat or any hill side that can have an overview of Kuala Lumpur and take photo or even video of the history moment and I guess it will be awesome?! yeah where will you be?

Last Saturday went to MTV World Stage 2010 at Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach for Wonder Girls and Katy Perry. It was an awesome show if minus the rain + the technical problem and delay… Between each of the performances it took about 30 mins and it’s crazy!
Luckily I didn’t bring umbrella coz cannot pass the bouncer. Haha. You will be given 1 cheapskate rain coat but I like the design and if without this rain coat I think I will become wet chicken and fall sick the next day.
The queue to enter MTV World Stage was just too crazy! It queue all the way till Hotel Sun Inns and I was in the queue for more than 30 mins and leg also numb. The queue was just way too long and it could be better if not those slowness of the check point at the entrance.
I was in the Sunway Surf Beach about 8pm and miss the Bunkface performance but I was there for Wonder Girls and Katy Perry only =p

They opened up their performance with I Wanna and Goodbye and also performed a rock version of their hit song 2 Different Tears as well as Nobody.
At 1st thought Wonder Girls just sang a few songs and left but yup they came back to the stage and sing their famous song “No body no body but you!” Damn nice k and sumore in the gold blink blink costume! =)

Pop icon Katy Perry is well-known for louder than life performances in her eccentric outfits and of course, infectious pop songs. Katy’s debut album One of The Boys hit the charts and went platinum in the UK, US and Australia, and double platinum in Canada. Over 5 million copies of the album have been sold with many smashing singles including “I Kissed A Girl,” “Hot N Cold,” “Thinking Of You” and “Waking Up In Vegas.”
During the recent MTV Movie Awards 2010, Katy Perry performed her latest single “California Gurls.” Stealing the show, Katy gave California a new theme song and a new sense of cool with her sparkling outfit and heart pumping dance moves. The single “California Gurls” has been No. 1 on Billboard Digital Songs for week of June 12, 2010 and is also now No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100. The song will be featured in her upcoming album Teenage Dream, slated for release on 24 August 2010 (in US and Canada) and 30 August 2010 (for the rest of the world).
Among the awards won by Katy include MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 for Best New Act; and in 2009 the BRIT Awards for International Female Artist, MTV Australian Music Awards for Best New Artist, NRJ Music Awards for International Album Of The Year and MTV VMAJ for Best New Artist In A Video.
Tokio Hotel
Tokio Hotel, the biggest act to come out of Germany in 20 years, has gone a stunning 45x platinum and 65x gold, scored five No. 1 singles and three No. 1 albums. Their rocket to success launched in 2001 when Bill Kaulitz and his twin brother Tom – the band’s hip-hop-tinged guitarist – formed the band along with bassist Georg Listing, and drummer Gustav Schaefer.
In 2005, they released their German debut album Schrei, including their worldwide hit single “Durch den Monsun (Monsoon).” since then they’ve caught on like wild fire and gained the attention of an entire generation. In France, the group’s popularity exploded. They went from playing small club gigs for 500 to performing at the foot of the Eiffel Tower for a crowd of 500,000 screaming fans phonetically belting out the words to Tokio Hotel’s German hits. Soon after they made history by becoming the first German band to score a No. 1 hit on the Israeli radio charts and in 2007, Tokio Hotel received their first MTV Europe Music Award. Wonder Girls
Asian pop sensation Wonder Girls are South Korea’s girl group (made up of Sun, Yenny, Yubin, Lim and Sohee) who has become the very first Korean group from Asia to enter Billboard Hot 100 in 30 years. The Wonder Girls were introduced through the channel’s programme called MTV Wonder Girls which was filmed and directed by MTV Korea. Debuted in 2007, the Wonder Girls became very popular with their songs “Tell Me,” “So Hot” and “Nobody.” The infectious hit “Nobody” peaked at No. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 4 on Billboard Heatseekers Song, and No. 1 on Billboard 2009 Year-End Hot Singles Sales chart, which rose the girls to instant fame. “Nobody” sold over 32,000 albums, was downloaded over 30,000 times on the internet, and has over 13 million views to-date on across popular social media platforms.
With their rising success, Wonder Girls opened the U.S. leg of The Jonas Brothers World Tour last year (along with Honor Society and Jordin Sparks) for over 50 concerts in North America. From June 4 to July 20, 2010, Wonder Girls is having their their own U.S. tour concert called ‘Wonder Girls World Tour’. Their accolades won in 2009 included Artist Of The Year at the Seoul Music Awards, Best Asia Artist Of The Year at MTV Style Gala in China and Group Of The Year at the 6th Annual Korean Music Awards.
Bunkface
Vocalist Sam, bass guitarist Youk and lead guitarist Paan are the young Klang lads who formed Bunkface in 2005. In only a year, they have won two Battle of the Bands organized by ROTTW and University Malaya respectively. Their first song “Silly Lily”was No. 1 on FLY FM’s Campur Chart for an astounding 10 weeks in a row. The new indie rock band stormed on to the local scene when they swept 3 Shout! Awards – Rockstar, Breakout and Ultimate – last year. Bunkface then went on to win Most Popular Group/Duo award at Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian 2009. The band continues to gain accolades in 2010, winning an AVIMA award for Best Rock Vocalist. At the 2010 AIM17 Awards, they picked up Best Rock Song for “Situasi” and the Anugerah Kembara, an award which honors musicians who have taken their music beyond Malaysian shores. This unstoppable group recently released their first full-album Phobia Phoney in March. The local indie band’s most popular songs include “Bunk Anthem,” “Situasi,” “Extravaganza,” “Prom Queen” and “Revolusi.”

The Grand Final of Astro Battleground 《舞极限》, a street dance competition was held at Ministry of Sound – Euphoria, Sunway, on 19th December 2009. The top 4 finalist : – Elecoldxhot, Dancologist, Wakaka Fever and Katoon Network, was battling it out on the dance floor for the much-anticipated Champion title and a total of RM50,000 cash prizes sponsored by Gatsby. Did you watch the live thru Astro Wah Lai Toi? Bet it was fun and excited experience catching the live isn’t it?

Game 1 : Step on newspaper and dance…(all the participants legs must be within the newspaper)
Game 2 : Emcee say some item and the artistes must find it from the guest / audience. (Car Key, Lipstick, Tissue, Belt…)
When playing this game, emcee told them to get a belt, then Kevin Cheng 郑嘉颖 rush down and I thought he was waiting for the belt from the guest beside me but then after that he scold me said that I only taking photo and ignored him! I didn’t ler… =( If I know he want my belt I confirm take it off immediately for him! Arghh…
Those that gave those items required by the emcee to the artist get to go up the stage and take photo + gift! If I take off my belt then I will get it but too bad lah!!!
Game 3 : Design a costume for the guest.
After they design the costume, they need to explained what’s the design for and need to do a cat walk. So creative leh.

Lastly there’s a special gift for all the guest, which there’s an ang pau below the chair, if who got it then they get to take home Bird Nest “Yin Wo…” wow.

Renowned names from the photography industry were there to judge the hundred of participation and find the shining stars. The panel of judges included (Mr Sean Soh of Sean Studio, En Zainal Abd. Halim of Reuters Malaysia, Mr Joe Chan of Pro Kit, Mr Ng Kok Leong of The Star, Mr Peter Tan of Peter Tan Photography & Mr Zung of The Photoz). Judging was based on creativity in theme interpretation, use of colors, light / shadows, composition of photograph, and relevance to the theme given in the marathon.
Never expected to win anything but merely luck and I guess maybe there’s something different. I did a twist on the lense for the effect. So am I creative? It’s worth RM 1,000.00 Thanks!
