Samsung’s new GT-N7000 Galaxy Note is the handset that many people dream of with obnoxiously large smartphones. It’s as thin as a Galaxy S II, running Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos processor and its 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display is as gorgeous as it is enormous.
The 1280 x 800 pixels screen resolution you once could only get with a full-size laptop (or in the Galaxy Tab 10.1) can now slide comfortably into your front pocket, that’s Samsung Galaxy Note. With support for 21Mbps HSPA+ (850, 900, 1900, 2100Mhz), LTE, EDGE and GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz), the Note is first and foremost a mobile phone!
Consumer research indicates that people always want to do more tasks much better, even on the go, whether it is web browsing, email, games, or viewing photos and videos.
To do all this, consumers carry multiple devices, because each device has unique benefits that work best in a particular situation. Therefore, consumers constantly switch devices to use the right device at the right time.
Even for consumers with multiple smart devices, they still carry around a notepad for writing down ideas.
There is an emerging desire for a primary device for on-the-go use that could consolidate the core tasks of multiple devices as well as recreate the ease and simplicity of using a pen and paper.
The GALAXY Note was created to reflect your desires. The Galaxy Note is a primary device that will minimize the need to switch to other devices while on the go and open up the potential of your mobile experience.
Samsung Galaxy Note jumbo display makes it the perfect candidate for a notepad replacement and, with the included S Pen stylus, you’ll have no problem jotting notes on the fly, marking up screenshots or signing documents electronically.
Don’t call it a stylus! Samsung prefers S Pen and, with features that you won’t find on just any plastic poker, it might even deserve the distinction. It’s able to tap and hold to capture an instant screenshot, which is then immediately opened up in an image editor and do wonders!
The S Pen is combined with the full touch screen to create a best-in-class mobile input experience. It is the most advanced pen input technology featuring an array of functions including pressure sensitivity, preciseness, speed and more. With the S Pen, you can easily sketch drawings or write notes with increased accuracy and ease. Also, the S Pen functionality is deeply integrated into the GALAXY Note’s native applications to provide a richer interactive experience.
It’s really a useful tool for me to copy notes and replace all my physical notebook and pen and environmentally friendly too! =)
S Memo : S Pen optimized advanced memo
The S Memo lets you record all forms of ideas instantly and freely. A quick memo can be taken from any screen to capture your ideas before they float away. Those ideas along with pictures, voice recordings, typed text, handwritten notes or drawings can be captured into S Memo, to be edited, annotated and shared as desired.
I don’t need to carry my 555 note book and just a Samsung Galaxy Note will do!
Advanced 8MP camera
I love to take photo and with the powerful camera feature, I capture the world’s every moment in deep detail. Also, using the vivid and large display, anyone can easily review photos and show them to my friends in a huge screen! So don’t need to bring bulky DSLR everywhere you go and can take awesomely good photo!
Conclusion / Summary of Samsung Galaxy Note
The huge size of the Galaxy Note is the main reason to buy it. Till now, no other smartphone has such a big, beautiful screen. However, the size also creates a number of issues, short battery life and sheer unwieldiness being chief among them. If you can live with these drawbacks, you’ll find that this is one of the most powerful Android smart phones around, tackling apps and media with aplomb.
Samsung Galaxy Note will be available in Malaysia stores from 11 November onwards. If you want to grab one do go and check it out!
South Korea’s Samsung Electronics has already planned out an aggressive legal strategy to block sales of Apple’s unannounced iPhone 5 when it arrives in Korea. Samsung will file lawsuits to try to block the sale of Apple’s iPhone 5 as part of its global legal tussle with the US technology giant.
The two firms are at loggerheads in a series of patent lawsuits over the technology and design of their smartphones and tablet computers. It was unclear whether Samsung would seek a sales ban of the Apple iPhone 5, only in South Korea or internationally.
The patent war between Apple vs Samsung has quickly escalated since the iPhone maker fired the first shot in April. At least 23 lawsuits are pending between Samsung and Apple across a number of countries. Apple has seen a few early victories against Samsung, including a permanent ban preventing its rival from selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in Germany.
Samsung vs Apple
So will Apple iPhone 5 be able to launch next month? Will Samsung win the lawsuits against Apple and ban the sales of iPhone 5? Yet to tell and whether it will be launching in Malaysia?? Who knows? Let’s see~!
Samsung to seek iPhone 5 ban in Korea, report says
The iPhone 5 hasn’t even been announced yet, and already Samsung is planning to ban its sale in South Korea, a new report claims.
According to the Korea Times, citing sources with knowledge of the matter, Samsung will file suit against Apple for violating its patents related to wireless communications as soon as possible after the Cupertino, Calif.-based company launches its follow-up to the iPhone 4. In that lawsuit, the Korea Times’ sources say, Samsung will request the court ban all sales of the device.
“For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents,” a Samsung source reportedly told Korea Times. “We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights.”
The Korea Times report is just the latest entry in the ongoing legal saga between Apple and Samsung. Over the last several months, the companies have ramped up their bitter patent battle, taking it all over the world. As of this writing, the companies are battling it out in the U.S., Australia, across Europe, and in parts of Asia.
So far, Apple has gotten the better of Samsung. In Australia, the iPhone maker was able to get Samsung to agree to show it three Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet designs before it sells the single version that Apple allows. Earlier this month, Apple successfully stopped the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany, following an earlier, overturned ruling by a German court that temporarily banned the sale of Samung’s tablet across the EU.
But it’s not just tablets. Both companies claim that the other’s smartphones violate their patents, as well. And so far, neither side has budged.
Apple has been especially critical of Samsung over the last several months. In South Korea, Apple filed a complaint against Samsung, saying that its products have been copied.
“[Samsung's] products…blatantly imitate the appearance of Apple’s products to capitalize on Apple’s success,” Apple said in its complaint in June. “The copying has been widely observed in the industry and has been mentioned in multiple articles reviewing Samsung products.”
For its part, Samsung has left most of the talking for the courtroom, deciding instead to say publicly that it will “continue to actively defend and protect our intellectual property.”
This time around, Samsung has not immediately responded to a CNET request for comment on its lawsuit plans against the iPhone 5. Apple has also not immediately responded to CNET’s request for comment.
That said, there’s no telling what either side can say. Apple has so far remained tight-lipped on the iPhone 5 and hasn’t even acknowledged that the device will launch anytime soon. What’s more, the rumor mill can’t even keep it straight: some reports suggest the device will launch this month, while others say it won’t happen until October.
The next iPhone will be out soon, and Samsung’s legal team is going to be nice and ready for it: the company’s told the Korea Times that it’s already working on a national sales ban.
If a Korean court granted Samsung the injunction, it’d be an unprecedented victory in the tedious patent slap fight between the two companies (during which only Apple has landed a few slaps).
Once again, Samsung claims the iPhone 5 will step on its own patents. Will it prevail? Probably not. The company’s been unable to prove its case before judges around the world, and given the likelihood that the 5 will be largely similar to its predecessor, their luck isn’t likely to improve. This sounds more like chest-thumping than legal prowess. [Korea Times via Apple Insider]
Samsung Plans to Sue Apple as Soon as iPhone 5 Arrives [REPORT]
Although the next generation of Apple‘s iPhone hasn’t yet been released, and no details about the device have been given, Samsung already plans to try to ban its sales in Korea, the Korea Times reports citing unnamed industry sources.
The legal battle between the two companies has been raging for months, with Apple managing to ban the sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab as well as some variants of the Galaxy S smartphone in several countries, including the Netherlands and Australia.
The companies also sued each other in Korea: Apple on the grounds of Samsung copying the iPhone and iPad product range, while Samsung’s countersuit has been more technology-based.
“For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights,” said a senior Samsung executive.
For now, Apple is winning the patent lawsuit war, but the next generation iPhone is one of the most anticipated gadgets of the year. If Samsung should manage to delay its launch — even only in Korea — it would be a nasty setback for Apple.

All these while I’ve been targeting for Android phone and the particular model Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) but now there’s a newer model Samsung Galaxy SL (GT-I9003) and yes I get to use it and experience it for few days! It’s really an awesome and affordable phone!
Nowadays phone is very important to me so that I could get connected to the world and my friends. If without a phone I think I will not survive… I use Whatsapp and PingChat!, Twitter and Facebook on my mobile a lot and this is my only dose to keep me entertain and will not feel lonely as I get to see my friends updates and get myself updated to the world news. =)
Celcom is now offering the latest Samsung Galaxy SL. So what’s with the different between Samsung Galaxy S vs Samsung Galaxy SL?
It’s pretty much same as the Samsung Galaxy S, but the different between the 2 model is Samsung Galaxy SL using Super Clear LCD instead of Super AMOLED screen which can be found in Samsung Galaxy S. Also there’s a slight increase of the size and thickness of the Galaxy SL to fit the bigger capacity battery, from 1500 mAh to 1650 mAh. In addition, there is also an increase of about 10% (119g to 131g) on the weight of Galaxy SL.
It is powered by a 1 GHz TI OMAP 3630 instead of the original Hummingbird processor. Unlike the Galaxy S, the Galaxy SL comes with 4GB internal storage with Android 2.2 (Froyo) preloaded.
Check out the video on the New Samsung Galaxy SL.
What I like about this Samsung Galaxy SL
- The screen is really awesome and it’s sharp and crystal clear! It provide clear visibility in broad daylight.
- Longer Battery Life that allows 24/7 connectivity! That’s very important for smartphone.

- With Android, I could download tons of free Apps! Yes, FREE Apps!
- Get to sync with all Google products easily.
There are tons of free apps for you to download!
Sync with your google accounts will make your life easier!
Minor disadvantages
- Camera do not have flash
- No dedicated camera key
- The all-plastic body is a real fingerprint magnet but it’s really light!
- Increased thickness (10.6mm), height (123.7mm) and weight (131 g) compared to the original Galaxy S (9.9mm, 122.4mm and 119 g)
This is the photo taken using Samsung Galaxy SL. The picture quality and color is very nice.

YTL e-Solutions to sign deal with Samsung for peninsula-wide coverage
PETALING JAYA: After forging a partnership with Cisco late last year, YTL e-Solutions (YTLe) is set to ink yet another deal tomorrow with South Korea’s Samsung group to help it deploy WiMAX services in Peninsular Malaysia, according to sources familiar with the deal.
WiMAX, which stands for worldwide interoperability for microwave access, is a wireless digital communications system for wireless broadband access.
To build the WiMAX-based platfrom, YTLe will be investing about RM2.5bil for a nationwide roll-out, which will be funded by internally generated funds, one source said.
YTLe is listed on Mesdaq and is a subsidiary of YTL Corp Bhd.
The arrangement with Samsung will cover infrastructure build-up, especially radio network systems and the provision of hand-held devices for the services, the source added.
It is not clear how much the deal with Samsung is worth or whether the handsets will eventually be subsidised but YTLe is hoping to offer WiMAX-based voice, data and multimedia services in six to eight months’ time.
It is targeting a nationwide (peninsula) roll-out of WiMAX services in 14 months’ time, offering data download speeds of eight megabits per second (Mbps) and two Mbps for uplinks.
YTLe hopes to take the market by storm with its WiMAX service, offering a “one-pricing structure for its converged (voice, data and Multimedia services),” according to a source.
“Yes, YTLe has taken some time but it needed the time to study the maturity of the technology and it believes it is entering the market place at the right time,” the source said.
Most advanced
Samsung is known to have created one of the most advanced portable WiMAX gadgets globally.
Last month Samsung launched its SWD-M100 Mondi mobile WiMAX device in the United States.
Mondi has touch screen capabilities and can be used to access the Internet.
Whether this model will make its way into Malaysia is unclear but YTLe is hoping that the partnership with Samsung will enable it to provide a total package comprising devices and services.
“It is important to give Malaysians a new experience in mobility and YTLe is looking at offering converged services,’’ the source said.
In December, YTLe formalised an agreement with Cisco Services Malaysia for the deployment of WiMAX.
Cisco will build and integrate YTLe’s WiMAX core network which includes the IP core and operating support systems, among others.
The arrangement with Samsung will sort out its radio network systems and devices.
A late entrant it may be, but YTLe has finally got the partners it needed to help with its WiMAX rollout, including US-based Clearwire as its technology partner.
YTLe is one of four Malaysian companies awarded the 2.3GHz spectrum in 2007, which allows them to offer wireless broadband services using the WiMAX technology
The other three are Packet One Networks (M) Sdn Bhd, REDtone International Bhd and Asiaspace Sdn Bhd.
WiMAX is not widely available globally but a handful of American cities have deployed it.
In Malaysia, the Government awarded the spectrum so that operators can offer services that will lead to higher broadband penetration rates in the country.
Wow it was cool and damn tiring experience! Thanks to Samsung for selected me as one of the participants which represent Samsung Fun Club in this Innov8 Run. Was disappointed that our team thought we could win but actually not, not really sure the reason why but at least we tried our best in the run, maybe our points were deducted because cannot meet the time frame? Too bad because we were the last car to start and actually 45mins – 1hour later than the 1st car who started the run.
Before the actual event, Innov8 Run, we had a get together lunch with all the selected Samsung Fun club participants at Bon Ton Restaurant @ Jalan Conley last Saturday before the actual event. Then we pick our team members using the draw lot method, Yee Leng, Lim and me were faithed as group members and I was picked as a driver.
After the get together lunch, I was think what the people in Samsung said, “Decorate your car and you might win something” might be win something or some surprise, so… I decided to take up the initiative to design my own logo plus Samsung Innov8 logo. It took me some time and money to do it…
Here’s the actual stickers and the end product on my car =) Look nice right? I did that on Saturday about 2am. Then after that faster went to catch some sleep and recharge to face the next morning challenge.
On the morning itself, just drank a cup of Milo and rush to pump petrol as I got that news that petrol dropped on that day itself too and being a kiasu me so waited till Saturday only pump my car to full tank for this Innov8 Run.
Then went to Samsung Customer Service Plaza @ Jalan 51A/219 and meet up with my team members. Then they distributed a small sticker for each of the participants so that all of them actually know and can recognize who’s in the same team and we have to use the team number thru out the run.
At about 9am, all the participants was separated to two group as the hall is not enough to fit all of us and my team member went on to the game challenge which actually determine which team will start 1st. The challenge is actually we had to race Asphalt 4 using INNOV8 phones and is hooked up to a Samsung LCD TV. Guess what? Our team actually got the last place and that’s the reason why we were the last car to start the run. =( Too bad I don’t play games and no talent for games.
After that, we proceed to the Samsung Training Center, where we were taught how to use the phone and the basic knowledge of treasure hunt. It’s actually my first time joining a treasure hunt in such big event, and it’s an eye opener. The we were assigned a Marshall and an Adidas t-shirt, car stickers and 2 INNOV8 phones per team. If they would have told me earlier that they actually giving me stickers then I probably not making one myself.
Then went on to stick it on my car and we’re off to a speech by Samsung’s head with media launch. The we received 1st question by sms and it actually hit us to locate “Menara KKAUM”. After that a must have big group photo shoot outside of the building so that the media could report about the event. Once that is over with, we’re told to line up the cars in the positions that we’re in, which is the last. LOL!
1st Stop – Wisma KKAUM. We were totally out of clue and we were brought to some ulu-ulu place by the GPS and end up in some factory area. Then we wasted quite some time only figured out the place was ASTAKA. It was actually frustrating to use the GPS and the women keep asking me to turn left or right where in actual fact it’s a straight road and when it reach roundabout, the women will keep on saying “Approaching roundabout”! LOL, who doesn’t know la? Just keep quite and lead us to the correct way, that was what we keep on mumbling.
Once we’re at the field, which was not that easy and took us clueless time, two persons from a team need to play a blindfolded game where a person need to walk a distance to get the puzzle and place it into a toy ball while the other person shouts out the directions and instructions. After that, I stayed in the field while my other two members have solve another challenge.
After that, we got our passport stamped and get our instructions and tulips and rush off to Digital Mall Section 14 there. We have to look around the building sign board or banner in order for us to solve the questions and need to get the treasure drinks which we got it correctly too. Then went to Sime Darby and took a team photo with the Samsung Omnia billboard and proceed to KL Tower. It was damn jam. Madness…
We get to play Flying Fox @ KL Tower and it’s actually my first time playing the Flying Fox, it’s nothing to shout about. The distance and height is so so only. Haha…
Capture other teams moment when their turn trying out the Flying Fox. You can see the reaction of the face, haha =)
After that, it was about 3-4pm and then we had to rush for our lunch too. This is our lunch box which cost RM15 as I was told. A bit expensive huh?
Then we proceed to Sungei Wang and took another picture of the team members with the Samsung Omnia banner again and gosh we had to go thru all the jam and crazy traffic. Then we were told that McDonalds @ Petaling Street was our next destination. There, we have to spot a bunch of signs or stores to complete our puzzle. Then we had a “Air Mata Kuching” drinking challenge where by we need to drink the cup of ice freeze “Air Mata Kuching” within 15secs and I did it in less than 5secs. Yeah! Too thirsty.
Then we were on shopping spree that we were told to buy a bunch of treasures which is natural items and we did it. Turnip, Plum, Mandrin Orange, Egg, Grape. Haha…
Then another mms showed us our last check point destination. We had to drive all the way to Batu Caves just to submit what we got in the shopping challenge. It’s jam and we got lost few times but lucky and thanks to our Marshal and we are back on track. It was the last destination because the whole event was late and they had to cancel a few other challenge. YaY!… If they did continue the thing… I think I will be fainted there and need to call ambulance.
Then we were given another tulips to our dinner at “Sakura Kristal” @ Taman Melawati.
