I saw this news and went to a mamak that bearing the logo of 1Malaysia and thinking to try my luck for the 1Malaysia People’s Menu which only cost RM3 for the rice with chicken + drinks but my total bill is RM6.80 for that.

My other friend’s lunch. Look at the price, even just 1 portion of Timun + 1 portion of Fried Potato is already RM3.50 and it’s without drink!

Where can you get 1Malaysia People’s Menu for RM3.00, you can get rice, taugeh, chicken wings, beef or mutton? I have yet to try out from the real mamak that serve the 1Malaysia People’s Menu, have you tried any? Can you tell me if you find this 1Malaysia Restaurant and let me know! =)

According to the prime minister’s budget speech:

74. The Government will undertake measures to ease rising costs and prices as well as reduce the burden of the rakyat, as follows:
First: Increase the number of Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) nationwide in 2012. KR1M offers 250 types of 1Malaysia products, comprising consumer goods which are up to 40% cheaper. In view of the overwhelming response, the Government plans to open an additional 85 units in 2012 with an allocation of RM40 million;
Third: Extend and promote the Menu Rakyat 1Malaysia which offers popular menu sets at reasonable prices with a maximum of RM2 for breakfast and RM4 for lunch. Currently, more than 700 food operators are participating and this will be extended to 3,000 operators by end-2012. To further expand this initiative, the Government encourages all cafeteria operators in Government offices* and the private sector to implement the Menu Rakyat 1Malaysia.

Thumbs up for low-cost meal
KUALA LUMPUR: The campaign for the 1Malaysia People’s Menu has received overwhelming response from restaurants.
According to the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry, there were now 1,004 restaurants taking part in the programme as at Oct 14.
“We were supposed to achieve the target of 1,000 restaurants by December, but we achieved it three months earlier,” he told a press conference after a lunch with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at Restoran Ukhwah in Lorong Medan Tuanku yesterday.
“The Prime Minister came just to eat. He wanted to taste the food eaten by ordinary folk. He also wanted to find out whether the lunch menu served at RM4 and breakfast at RM2 under the programme were really of quality,” he added.

Paying less for more: Najib smiling as he pays for his meal at Restoran Ukhwah in Lorong Medan Tuanku, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
Ismail Sabri said Najib’s lunch experience at the restaurant also proved wrong the perception of some quarters that cheap food at the eateries were of low quality.
He added that in the peninsula, the restaurants could offer breakfast at a maximum of RM2 and lunch at RM4. In Sabah and Sarawak, it’s RM2.50 for breakfast and RM5 for lunch.
Ismail Sabri urged more restaurant operators to take part in the programme and offer food at affordable prices while helping people reduce their financial burden.
Restoran Ukhwah serves a RM1 breakfast menu that includes teh tarik, roti canai and a piece of kuih while the RM3 lunch menu includes a plate of rice with meat and one vegetable dish and a syrup drink.
Asked how the restaurant could maintain its profit at such rates, Ukhwah Cooperatives president Datuk Rahim Baba said they carried out volume selling while offering other menus at regular prices.
Regular customer Ramlee Salleh, 76, said he ate at the restaurant with his wife Zaleha Salleh, 63, and grandson daily to reduce their financial burden.
Ramlee, who has two wives, said he earns RM700 a month as a petition writer and gets a RM400 pension.
“But it is still not enough for us and I sometimes just eat bread,” he added.

Najib gives thumbs-up to restaurant’s 1Malaysia People’s Menu
KUALA LUMPUR — Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today praised the taste and quality of the food served at a restaurant participating in the 1Malaysia People’s Menu programme.
The prime minister expressed his satisfaction after spending almost half an hour, enjoying lunch of rice with ayam masak merah, ayam masak kicap, daging goreng, fried taugeh and papadom at Restoran Ukhwah in Lorong Medan Tuanku, here.
Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who accompanied Najib, said: “The prime minister came just to eat….he wanted to taste the food eaten by ordinary folk.
“He also wanted to find out whether the lunch menu served at RM4 and breakfast at RM2 under the programme were really of quality.”
He said Najib’s lunch experience at the restaurant also proved wrong the perception of some quarters that cheap food at eateries participating in the programme were of low quality.
“The ministry is always monitoring for the quality of food served…the prime minister praised the food served just now, which he said was delicious and of quality.
“I think the prime minister was very happy to taste what the ordinary people eat on a daily basis and it also shows his concern for the people’s welfare,” Ismail Sabri said.
The 1Malaysia People’s Menu programme was launched on July 7, aimed at lessening the people’s daily expenses while enabling them to enjoy breakfast at the ceiling price of RM2 and lunch at the maximum of RM4.
Ismail Sabri said the programme had received encouraging response with the target of 1,000 restaurants by the year-end achieved earlier when 1,004 participated in the programme nationwide.
Of the total, Perak has recorded the highest number with 152, followed by Selangor (137), Terengganu (123), Kedah (104), Pahang (103), Sarawak (64), Penang (61), Johor and Sabah (52), Kuala Lumpur (46), Kelantan (41), Negeri Sembilan (34), Melaka (18), Perlis (12), Labuan (3) and Putrajaya (2).
Ismail Sabri said for public convenience, the ministry would advertise the list of the participating eateries in the newspapers tomorrow.
He hoped more eateries would participate in the programme but the condition is that they must served balanced meals. — Bernama

PIKOM PC Fair 2009 (III) is here, which started from last week. It is the 3rd PC Fair of the year 2009. I went to PC Fair since few years back till now, every time there’s PC Fair I will sure go and have a visit no matter I have anything in mind to purchase or not. This year I would like to get the WD 1TB external HDD as my HDD gonna out of space coz took too much photo la!
But for me, I still like PC Fair in PWTC better, because the KLCC PC Fair really badly manage for the past few times, all one way straight and if you decide to go out or halfway, you can’t! That’s the main problem, besides jam, crowded, expensive food, expensive car parking fees etc. What to do??
Want to buy cheap laptop or netbook? cheap pc? cheap pen drive/thumb drive, external hard disk (HDD), dvd-r, dvd-rw, cd-r, ram, Broadband like Streamyx, IZZI, Maxis 3G Broadband, Digi 3G Broadband, Celcom 3G Broadband, P1 W1MAX with wiggy, HWM Magazine, PC.com, pc accessories, mouse, keyboard, speaker, camera, DSLR, GPS, Projector… etc and a lot’s more. Last PC fair I bought a Asus EEEPC 1005HA netbook which is very good deal! But now all the netbook or notebook / laptop sure come with Win7 liao lo.
This year I think there’s more Broadband war as the Potong campaign and new 3G Broadband in the market, Digi 3G Turbo etc…

Then maybe there’s antivirus war by Kaspersky (Jakie Chan as spoke person) and Avira (more nurse compare to last fair?) too!
For those who’s going for KLCC PC Fair, please check the car park map. It’s very useful to plan your journey if not the best way is to take LRT but if you buying heavy and huge stuff better drive. Please car pool and safe the environment too! =)
Most importantly some ppl just go all the way there to check some of the tech updates but some go all the way there to see leng luis? ahah.
Or you looking for PC Fair job or part time as a promoter? You could easily earn up to RM100-200 per day, if you are female you could make a lot more if you become those model that holding laptop or etc. Click here to find out more available PC Fair Part Time jobs @ AsiaPartTime
Will updates more if have latest news and I will be there next Sat / Sunday @ KLCC. Who will be there next week? Maybe could meet up or something?

Mak Cik gives birth to Jen-ii and Idola
KUALA LUMPUR: Mimos Bhd’s Mak Cik PC (or Aunty PC, translated from the Bahasa Malaysia), a prototype, has spawned a new computer that will appeal to the younger crowd.
The research organisation has signed a memorandum of understanding with local PC manufacturer, FTEC Systems Sdn Bhd, to jointly develop this other version of the Mak Cik PC.
It is called Idola (Idol, in English) — which stands for Internet Device for Learning Applications. The venture is primarily for product development and commercialisation of the ultra-portable computer.
Mimos will be transfering researched technologies to FTEC to aid in the further development of Idola.
Previously codenamed CyberTablet, Idola is powered by chipmaker Intel Corp’s Atom low-power processor.
Developed in collaboration with Intel, Idola will be targeted at the lifestyle market and education sector, as well as users with a limited budget who need basic computing capabilities and Internet access.
Idola has touchscreen features, WiFi, WiMAX and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, as well as IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) technology.
IPv6 is the next generation protocol designed to replace the current IPv4 technology which is close to 20 years old. IPv6 fixes a number of problems in IPv4, such as the limited number of available IPv4 addresses.
Jen-ii
Earlier, the Mak Cik PC spawned the Jen-ii — a device with simple computing functions that will be used to introduce the Internet to senior citizens.
Jen-ii, which will be priced at less than RM500, makes it easy for its users to create online communities — where they can, for example, compare grocery prices, attend religious classes online and exchange e-mail.
Idola, on the other hand, delivers full-fledged computing capabilities; everything from wordprocessing to computer games.
“There must be an element of fun in the Idola for it to appeal to the younger crowd. After all, new teaching methods are geared towards fun,” said Mimos chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Wahab Abdullah at a press conference after the MOU signing.
Despite Idola’s minimalist design, a demonstration of the device showed that it is able to handle 3D graphics as capably as any personal computer today. “It can definitely handle more than just Solitaire,” quipped FTEC Resources Bhd managing director Tang Boon Koon, who was referring to a basic Windows game.
Thin and light
He said Idola’s battery can last up to six hours on a full charge and the computer weighs only 0.8kg — “it is one of the thinnest Internet devices in the market.”
Tang said FTEC plans to sell the notebook for US$299 (RM987). “We’re also looking for the right place to manufacture the product so that we can maintain that sub-RM1,000 price,” he said.
Idola is expected to be on the Malaysian market in the first quarter of next year. “We also hope to push it to other countries in the South-East Asian region, as well as the Middle East,” Tang said.
There are other ultra portables in the market now, such as Asus’ Eee PC (RM1,299), but Mimos believes the Idola is even more fuss-free. “The technology is not that complicated and we’ve come up with a sleek and simple design,” Wahab said.
Mimos’ Mak Cik PC, which was unveiled last year, is seen as a solution that can help bridge the “digital divide,” that gap between the technology haves and have-nots. It is also easily customised to suit specific market segments.

Malaysian computer for only RM500, laptop for RM1,000
LUSAKA (Zambia): Three months from now, Malaysians will be able to buy the i-Dola laptop and Jean-i personal computer (PC) at basement prices.
Mimos is now ready to licence the production of the Malaysian computer codenamed Mak Cik, which it took two years to develop. The laptop and PC are named after the Prime Minister and his wife.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili said the laptop would cost RM1,000, and the PC RM500.
“I have tested the computers and am happy with their performance,” said Dr Ongkili, who was here to attend the Global Southern Africa International Dialogue.
“They are wireless, Internet-based designs and need not be connected to fixed lines. To reduce costs, they do not have hard discs. You use a thumb drive instead.”
It is understood that the i-Dola and Jean-i will be as fast as computers using Intel Pentium 4 processors.
Dr Ongkili said that the King and Queen have already been presented with a pair of i-Dola laptops, which were previewed at the WCIT in Kuala Lumpur recently.
He added that several manufacturers were keen to make the computers, and were targeting selling about a million of them.
“The computers require broadband access and I have told the relevant bodies to speed up the roll-out of broadband coverage,” Dr Ongkili said.
He said the computers are targeted at students, businesses and housewives.
He revealed that Zambia and five other African nations have expressed interest in making the computer. In Zambia, laptops cost as much as US$3,000 (RM9,600).

wow, we have Malaysian made computer Desktop and Laptop soon. Named after Prime Minister, (Pak Lah) and his wife (Jean).
But I guess with the cost it can’t make wonders but of coz I’m still very interested to see this PC and hopefully if it’s good and cheap I will definitely get one for myself =)
Currently if you are looking for cheap and small and light pc it has to be “Asus’ Eee PC” it’s about RM1-2, small and light =)
