PETALING JAYA: Errant road users be warned; from today the Automated Enforcement System will begin operating at 14 “blackspots” to nab drivers who break the speed limit and jump traffic lights.
For the first phase of the AES, 14 cameras have been installed in Perak, Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. Ten are to catch speed limit breakers and four to catch those who jump traffic lights.
More cameras will be installed at 817 “blackspots” in the second phase, completing a nationwide implementation of the AES.
Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general Datuk Solah Mat Hassan said the implementation of the AES was “a serious move” by the Government to reduce the number of road fatalities.
“Hence, the AES cameras are installed at locations identified as accident-prone areas,” said Solah in a press statement.
He said the public could check where the AES cameras are on www.jpj.gov.my, adding that road users would also be able to know when they are at AES operation zones through signboards.
“By knowing the location, road users will be more careful at these spots and will drive according to the law. It will reduce the number of deaths and our objectives to ensure the safety of road users will also be met,” he said. “The public should see the implementation as a way to educate road users, not as a means to give JPJ extra power to issue summons.”
He said AES camera warning signs for no-speeding areas would be visible two to three kilometres before the cameras.
For cameras that record offences of people who jump traffic lights, the signs are located 50m to 500m of the traffic lights.
Solah said images captured by the AES cameras would be sent automatically to the AES control centre and the vehicle registration numbers of the alleged offenders would be cross checked with JPJ’s database, before a summons notice is sent to the vehicle owner.
“If the captured images do not match with the vehicle registration details on JPJ’s database, further investigations will be carried out. Offenders will receive their summons notices within five days of the date they violate traffic rules.
“However, if the registered owner is not the driver of the vehicle at the time of offence, they can submit the driver’s details to JPJ 30 days from receiving the summons notice,” Solah said. “If they choose to be present in court, they can do so at the time and date specified on the notice.”
Solah said those who have received the notice can call the AES Control Centre for enquiries at 03-7846 4400 for offences committed in Perak and 03-7628 8268 for offences in Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur.
Leeway given to drivers under Automated Enforcement System
PETALING JAYA: When the light turns amber, you have just two seconds before it turns red and the cameras catch you committing a traffic offence under the Automated Enforcement System.
This allowance is given in consideration of the “human element” in the event that you are not able to stop immediately when the light turns amber.
Under the AES, you are also given a leeway of 10kph beyond the speed limit, according to Road Transport Department director-general Datuk Solah Mat Hassan.
For example, if the speed limit is 110kph, you will only be “captured” on AES camera if you exceed 120kph, he told a media briefing here yesterday.
“Thus, offenders can no longer argue they only drove a couple of kilometres over the speed limit or that the traffic light turned red halfway.”
Solah also said the system started on Sunday with 14 cameras installed at accident-prone areas in Perak, Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur 10 to catch speed limit breakers and four to nab those who beat the red light.
In those two days, 2,952 offenders were caught on camera 809 for speeding and 2,143 for beating the red light, he added.
Solah said that cameras would be installed at 817 blackspots nationwide in the next one year.
He said the cameras, with an 11 megapixel resolution, could capture clear images of vehicles even when they were moving at high speed.
“The images captured will be sent automatically to the AES control centre and the vehicle registration numbers of the offenders will be cross-checked with the database of the Road Transport Department before a summons notice is mailed to the vehicle owner.
“Offenders will receive their summons notice within five days of the date they violated traffic rules. They are given two months to pay their RM300 compounds. They can be hauled to court if they refuse to pay up,” he said.
Solah stressed that the AES was not aimed at issuing summonses, but to educate people to be good road users and reduce the number of deaths due to accidents in the country.
As such, he said, signages were put up to give ample warning on the presence of cameras.
Two concessionaire companies, ATES Sdn Bhd and Beta Tegap Sdn Bhd, operate AES, each investing between RM300mil and RM400mil.

iOS6- Facebook. Integrated throughout iOS. You’ll definitely Like it.
Now it’s easier than ever to interact with the world’s largest social network. And there’s no need to leave your app to do it. Share a photo to Facebook right from Camera or Photos. Post your location right from Maps. Brag about a high score right from Game Center. If you have your hands full, just ask Siri to post for you.
You need to sign in to Facebook only once, and you’ll be off and sharing. Never miss another birthday or get-together, since Facebook events are integrated into Calendar. And your Facebook friends’ profile information is integrated into Contacts, so when they update an email address or phone number you automatically stay up to date. Now that’s something to post about.
Share photos from the Camera app, locations from Maps, links from Safari, high scores from Game Center, and more. Or post a status update from Notification Center or with Siri.
iOS6 – Shared Photo Streams. Share select Photos with a select audience.
Now you can share just the photos you want, with just the people you choose. Simply select photos from the Photos app, tap the Share button, choose who you want to share your photos with, and they’re on their way. Friends using iCloud on an iOS 6 device or a Mac running Mountain Lion get the photos delivered immediately in the Photos app or iPhoto.
You can even view Shared Photo Streams on Apple TV. If the folks you’re sharing with aren’t using an Apple device, they can view your photos on the web. People can like individual photos and make comments. And you can share as much as you want: Your Shared Photo Streams don’t count against your iCloud storage, and they work over Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
iOS6 – Passbook. Just ticket. And the boarding pass, card, and coupon.
Your boarding passes, movie tickets, retail coupons, loyalty cards, and more are now all in one place. With Passbook, you can scan your iPhone or iPod touch to check in for a flight, get into a movie, and redeem a coupon. You can also see when your coupons expire, where your concert seats are, and the balance left on that all-important coffee bar card.
Wake your iPhone or iPod touch, and passes appear on your Lock screen at the appropriate time and place — like when you reach the airport or walk into the store to redeem your gift card or coupon. And if your gate changes after you’ve checked in for your flight, Passbook will even alert you to make sure you’re not relaxing in the wrong terminal.
No more hunting through your wallet for gift cards, coupons, passes, or tickets. Passbook keeps everything organized — and handy.
iOS6 – FaceTime. Look who’s talking. Over cellular.
FaceTime now works over cellular networks as well as Wi-Fi, so you can make and receive FaceTime calls wherever you happen to be.3 You can even make and receive FaceTime calls on your iPad using your phone number. iOS6 – Phone. Send to voicemail. Reply with message. Remind me later. It’s your call.
iOS 6 adds new calling features to your iPhone. Now when you decline an incoming call, you can instantly reply with a text message or set a callback reminder. And when things are just too hectic, turn on Do Not Disturb and you won’t be bothered by anyone — except can’t-miss contacts like your boss or your better half.
iOS6 – Mail. An even better email experience. Delivered.
Redesigned with a more streamlined interface for easier reading and writing, Mail in iOS 6 lets you set up a VIP list so you’ll never miss an important message from your accountant, your boss, or your BFF. iOS6- Safari. Browsing is just the begining.
iOS 6 brings even better web browsing to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iCloud Tabs keeps track of which pages you have open on your devices, so you can start browsing on one device and pick up right where you left off, on whatever device is handy. Safari now saves web pages — not just links — in your Reading List, so you can catch up on your reading even when you can’t connect to the Internet.
And when you’re posting a photo or video to eBay, Craigslist, or another site, you can take photos and video — or choose from your Camera Roll — without leaving Safari. When you really want to see the whole picture, turn your iPhone or iPod touch to landscape and tap the full-screen icon to view web pages without distractions.
iOS6 – Accessibility. iOS6 comes with Guided Access.
iOS 6 comes with even more features to make it easier for people with vision, hearing, learning, and mobility disabilities to get the most from their iOS devices. Guided Access helps students with disabilities such as autism remain on task and focused on content. It allows a parent, teacher, or administrator to limit an iOS device to one app by disabling the Home button, as well as restrict touch input on certain areas of the screen.
VoiceOver, the revolutionary screen reader for blind and low-vision users, is now integrated with Maps, AssistiveTouch, and Zoom. And Apple is working with top manufacturers to introduce Made for iPhone hearing aids that will deliver a power-efficient, high-quality digital audio experience.
iOS6 – Camera with Panorama. Broaden your horizons.
The new panorama feature for iPhone and iPod touch lets you capture everything from a momentous family reunion photo to a sweeping vista.6 With one simple motion you can shoot up to 240 degrees — even vertically, to get that redwood tree, say. Then hardware and software work together to create one seamless, high-resolution panorama.
This year, Volkswagen came full circle since and as part of an iconic unveiling, Volkswagen hosted Das Auto. Show 2012. at the equally iconic Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre! It’s bigger and better this year! It’s a great miss if you can’t make it there watching the show live!
The show is aimed at introduction this Das Auto concept in Malaysia to help Malaysians understand the Volkswagen philosophy even more.
The Das Auto concept encompasses anything and everything about a car. It means “The Car” and for Volkswagen, the car is more than just a car. It is an embodiment of German engineering, innovations, technology and environment.
It’s really an awesome presentation of the beetles! Everything was so well planned. The lighting, the led graphic, the backdrop, the music, the dancers and of course the center of attraction which is the beetle! It’s action packed. Every fans of VW really enjoyed themselves and stunned by the show I would say!
Volkswagen Das Auto Show 2012 was really a big budget showcase for VW’s cars and it’s really impressive indeed and it’s even better with the icon “Volkswagen Beetles”! The Volkswagen Das Auto Show 2012 @ KLCC offered VW fans close previews of brand philosophy and character, including its technology, innovations and Volkswagen lineups.
The star attraction of this year’s Volkswagen Das Auto Show was the introduction of “The Beetle” – The Bug!, previewed in Malaysia at Volkswagen’s inaugural Show in Bukit Jalil last year.
“The Beetle” – The Bug! – Captured during last year Das Auto Show @ Bukit Jalil
I have pre-registered earlier and went in earlier to collect my pass so that I could get a good seating!
The original Volkswagen Beetle was first introduced to the world in 1938, and made its way to Malaysia in the 1950s. In 1968, local assembly of the Beetle was started here and to date, around 22.5 million units have been sold worldwide.
Now with a sportier, edgier look, the Beetle still carries much of its classic frame and evokes the same strong emotions every Beetle fan has, both then and today.
The Volkswagen. VW. Das Auto. Show 2012 started with some funny clips showcase of Volkswagen and we enjoyed and laughed together, then showcase the history of Volkswagen together with Volkswagen’s owner sharing on how they feels having a beetle and how people envy them when others see them driving them on the road.
Then, the show started by a synchronized dance performance.
It was awesome synchronized dance performances that dance to the beat of the music and to the movement of the screen backdrop as if the dancers moving those lighting effects at the screen!
Then there’s a singer that sing to the tune of The Icon Is Back and dance / performed together with the icon “Volkswagen Beetles”! The beetles did some cool movements and stunts together with the dancers which make the bug stand out during the entire show
After the cool Das Auto Show presentation, the audiences then proceed to the exhibition hall for more activities and the showcase of Volkswagen lineup.
You’ll be given this card to collect stamps then use it to collect gifts (a candy + notebook!). You just need to go to collect 6 stamps!
I took a photo at the Beetle Photo Booth! Got the print out and can email a softcopy to myself too!
There is a long stretch of stage where different Volkswagen cars will be showcased. There’s a 360 degrees rotation platform in the center of the stage that will enabled the fans to have a closer look at every different angle of the cars! Ain’t that awesome?
You can check out all the Volkswagen lineup at the exhibition hall too. You can touch and feel the beat of the Volkswagen vehicles.
There’s a “Little Bugster” corner for the little one for drawings.
There’s also a corner for the fans to grab Volkswagen Collections!
Celebrating the return of the Icon – It’s a love worth waiting for. Shedding its playful look, The Beetle returns with a sportier and sleeker shell while keeping its iconic retro touch.
The Beetle will be available in seven shades – Candy White, Tornado Red, Saturn Yellow, Reflex Silver, Deep Black, Platinum Grey, and Graciosa Brown. It is available at all authorized Volkswagen dealers nationwide and is priced from RM139,888.
Now you can watch the highlight captured below! Enjoy

Apple sets Sept 12 event, new iPhone expected
Apple’s iPhone launches are among the most-watched events on the tech industry calendar.—Reuters pic
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 5 — Apple Inc distributed invitations to an event in San Francisco on September 12, setting the stage for what is widely expected to be the release of the iPhone 5.
The typically cryptic invitation said “It’s almost here”, sported a number 12 — corresponding to the date of the event — and cast a large shadow of the number 5, a clue that the fifth version of the popular smartphone could be in the pipeline.
Apple’s iPhone launches are among the most-watched events on the tech industry calendar. The latest version of the company’s main product — generating more than half its revenue — may sport a larger, higher-end screen, sources have said.
The new screen could measure 4 inches from corner to corner, one source has said, an increase from the 3.5-inch display that has been held constant since the smartphone began selling in 2007 and revolutionized the mobile industry.
Some analysts say the larger screen may be a response to rival Samsung Electronics, whose larger, Google Android phones have helped it become the world’s biggest smartphone maker.
Speculation had also arisen in past months that the company might offer details about a smaller version of its iPad, but the emailed invitation offered no hint of that yesterday.
The event will take place at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the preferred venue for the unveiling of past products such as the iPad.
The new iPhone will hit store shelves in time for the crucial holiday season. Shares in the company edged 0.6 per cent higher to US$669.44 (RM2,140). — Reuters
Apple announces presumed iPhone 5 launch event for September 12th; we’ll be there live!
Apple has just invited members of the press to attend a San Francisco-based product launch event on September 12th, where the next generation iPhone is expected to be officially unveiled. As rumored, it seems as if the company’s prior iPod-focused fall events may be split off into two. It’s been reported that an October event may follow this one, with a miniaturized 7-inch iPad on the docket for that. This event, however, seems a lock for the iPhone 5 — or “new iPhone,” or whatever it ends up being coined — and while CEO Tim Cook confessed at D10 that it would be doubling down on secrecy, leakers seem to have doubled down on tipping the world off on what’s to come. The keynote kicks off at 10AM PT in SF, and you can bet we’ll be there covering every second of it live. Didn’t have any “lunch” plans for 9/12? Looks like you do now.
Never before in the recent history of Apple product announcements has the famously tight-lipped company confirmed the name of a gadget in advance. But that’s what happened Tuesday when the invites arrived for a special event on September 12 — featuring a giant 5 in the shadow of the date.
Apple famously wrong-footed the media around this time last year, announcing the iPhone 4S after every outlet on the planet had predicted the device would be called the iPhone 5. No clues as blatant as this one had been offered beforehand, and as a result, many attendees at the product launch felt underwhelmed.
The process happened again in March of this year, when Apple watchers were expecting an iPad 3 or iPad HD — only to be greeted with a tablet that the Cupertino company simply called “the new iPad.”
Even prior to the original iPhone announcement in 2007, there was some doubt as to whether the device would actually be called an iPhone. Cisco already had an IP telephony product with that name; not until Steve Jobs pulled one out on stage at Moscone West in San Francisco did it emerge that the two companies had come to an agreement.
So that giant shadowy 5 could well be a sign that Apple is going to be a little less mysterious in its product launch process from this point on; that it feels some of the frenzied speculation could actually be doing it harm. Perhaps it wants to make clear we won’t be talking about “the new iPhone” eight days from now. The iPhone numbering system lives on.
Indeed, if the iPhone 5 is little more than the incremental innovations we’ve been hearing about — a longer, thinner screen, a smaller dock connector, and no NFC (near-field communications, which would allow you to pay in stores with your phone) — it may be a prudent move for the company to deflate the bubble of speculation a little.
Which isn’t to say there is no mystery surrounding the September 12 event. We still don’t know if Apple will debut the much-anticipated iPad Mini there, or leave that for a separate event later in the fall.
What are you expecting to see in the iPhone 5? Let us know in the comments.
This is so funny… Now China GooPhone 谷蜂 want to sue Apple because the iPhone 5 design was patented by GooPhone in China? GooPhone 谷蜂 copied Apple iPhone and release 1st and patented it and then sue Apple?
Who patent 1st will win then? Let’s see! I’m thinking maybe is it Samsung the person behind who’s leading this so that in a revenge and kill Apple’s iPhone 5? Could it be? Lolz. (just my assumption only… ;p)
Main specs of Goophone I5:
- 4 inch IPS screen, 1280*720 pixel display
- 1.4GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB RAM
- Support 3G network: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 & WCDMA 850/2100 MHz
- 8MP back camera + 1.3MP front camera
- Android 4.0 OS
I have checked on the GooPhone website and it’s a Apache 2 Test Page? Who clone who now?? Hmm
You may remember the GooPhone i5 from last week. The phone featured a design that was similar to the rumored design of the iPhone 5. Most, including yours truly, dismissed it as another interesting Chinese knock off. It seems that GooPhone doesn’t see it that way.
GizChina is reporting that GooPhone claims to have a patent on the iPhone 5′s design in China. Well, they have a patent on their design, but it’s remarkably similar to the rumored design of the iPhone 5. When released in China, it might be hard to tell the two apart. GooPhone is apparently betting on that to be the case and will be ready to bring a patent lawsuit against Apple.
It’s hard to say exactly how successful GooPhone would be in protecting their “patent” in a court of law, but precedent is clearly in their favor. Chinese electronics company Proview fought Apple over the iPad trademark for months, but eventually settled to the tune of $60 million. It will be interesting to see Apple’s reaction if GooPhone really does sue them over the iPhone 5′s design.
Realistically speaking, it’s highly unlikely that Apple would be caught off guard by GooPhone’s accusations. They most likely have all the major design points of the iPhone 5 patented and ready to go for any potential legal battles. At best, GooPhone might be able to convince a few people that they’re selling a cheaper version of the iPhone 5.
Here’s an unintentionally hilarious video that compares the GooPhone i5 with the iPhone 4S from the folks at GizChina:
Chinese phone company GooPhone have released details of their new phone the GooPhone i5, a phone which borrows design from leaked iPhone 5 components, however the company have gone one step further and have applied for a patent on the new iPhone design which could block Apple selling the new iPhone in China!
The GooPhone i5 will have a quad-core 1.4ghz Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU, 1GB RAM, 4 inch IPS screen, 1280*720 pixel display, 8MP back camera + 1.3MP front camera and Android 4.0 ICS.
Chinese Clone Company Will Sue Apple Over iPhone 5 Design
The clone manufacturer who released an iPhone 5 knock-off last week now says that they will sue Apple if they release the real iPhone 5 in China. Surreal? Hilarious? Pathetic? All of the above.
Hong Kong-based GooPhone, who designed their cheapo Android phone after the alleged Apple iPhone 5 parts leaked during the last few months, has a very rational argument: they have released their clone first, so everything that comes after that must be a copy, even if they actually made their phone after the parts of a phone that hasn’t been released yet but that everyone believes is the real thing.
In other words: since their clone was released first, that makes it the original phone. The iPhone 5 is the actual clone, not theirs.
Makes sense? Of course it doesn’t. Who cares! It’s fun!
