Do you know what’s Gangnam Style?? It’s so hot recently and it’s spreading from Korea! There’s so many Parody of this Gangnam Style from all over the world! Should I start one as well? Let’s K-pop! lolz.
It’s like Gangnam Style Fever in Malaysia! ~ And also all over the world with so many Parody – imitative song and dance created to mock, comment on or trivialise the original Gangnam Style by PSY! Check on the original Gangnam Style and all the parody below.
Gangnam Style is a 2012 single by South Korean rapper Psy. First released on July 15, 2012, it entered the Gaon Chart singles chart at number one upon release.
“Gangnam Style” is a Korean language colloquialism that refers to a luxurious lifestyle associated with the Gangnam district,[2] an affluent and trendy area of Seoul. The music video depicts Psy dancing at various locations in Gangnam. The song’s theme is about “the perfect girlfriend who knows when to be refined and when to get wild.”
In Korean colloquialism, “오빤 강남 스타일 (Oppan Gangnam style)” may be translated as “I am (loving) the Gangnam style.” or liberally translated as “I am Gangnam style.” or “A Gangnam-styled girl is my style.” because the Korean word 오빠 (oppa), which is a noun meaning “a female’s elder brother” but can be also used as a first-, second- or third-person masculine pronoun to designate a male who is elder or older than a female, is used as a first-person pronoun in this phrase and 오빤 (oppan) is an abbreviation of 오빠는 (oppaneun) which is translated as “I am” when 오빠 (oppa) is used as a first-person pronoun.
PSY – Gangnam Style Lyrics (English Translation)
Oppa is Gangnam style
Gangnam style
A girl who is warm and humanle during the day
A classy girl who know how to enjoy the freedom of a cup of coffee
A girl whose heart gets hotter when night comes
A girl with that kind of twist
I’m a guy
A guy who is as warm as you during the day
A guy who one-shots his coffee before it even cools down
A guy whose heart bursts when night comes
That kind of guy
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Now let’s go until the end
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh
A girl who looks quiet but plays when she plays
A girl who puts her hair down when the right time comes
A girl who covers herself but is more sexy than a girl who bares it all
A sensable girl like that
I’m a guy
A guy who seems calm but plays when he plays
A guy who goes completely crazy when the right time comes
A guy who has bulging ideas rather than muscles
That kind of guy
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Beautiful, loveable
Yes you, hey, yes you, hey
Now let’s go until the end
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style
Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh
On top of the running man is the flying man, baby baby
I’m a man who knows a thing or two
On top of the running man is the flying man, baby baby
I’m a man who knows a thing or two
You know what I’m saying
Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady, Oppa is Gangnam style
Eh- Sexy Lady oh oh oh oh

For the promise of bling and lots and lots of money
What they don’t realize is that it’s noisy and hazy
And a 5 minute trip becomes a 5 hour journey.
But in your kampong,
You can wear sarong
Anywhere you go oh
Everybody knows oh
In your kampong,

You can go
Everybody knows
You can pancing, pull the pacat, panjat pokok, gotong royong
In Kelate, we say huk alohh bakpomu natebeghuk
But don’t say that coz u might kena tumbuk
Wo mahder’s from Kampo
And we got excellent Kai Chai Peng
They’re funny looking biscuits made for humans out of chicken
Dei macha, Klang is our kampong in the city
Dei macha, we got cheap tires and great bkt
Dei macha, our kampong is as big as a country
Dei macha, say it, dei macha.
Coz in your kampong,
You can wear sarong
Anywhere you go oh
Everybody knows oh
In your kampong,
Lepak kat lorong
You can go
Everybody knows
You can mandi sungai, panjat kerbau, main lastic, gotong royong
I don’t know, US is my kampong yo,
We eat burrito, what is sambal telor?

Hmm… it’s been going on since sometime back last year if I remember correctly and it’s finally award to Apple against Samsung in the patent suit.
So can I just go and patent that my kid will have 2 eyes and 1 nose and a round face. If your kids having the same features will infringe the patent and pay me some amount of money??
What’s the benefit of doing this and will this affect the sales of both Apple and Samsung and the rest of the competitors like HTC, Motorola, Nokia laughing out there because they can concentrate on the sales without any interruption?
The federal court jury in the patent infringement lawsuit between Apple and Samsung has presented its verdict after deliberating for just 21 hours and 37 minutes following the three week trial. This particular case started with Apple’s lawsuit last April and now the jury’s decision is that Samsung did infringe on Apple’s ’381 bounceback patent with all 21 of its products in question. For the ‘915 patent on pinch-and-zoom, the jury ruled all but three of the devices listed infringed, and more damningly, found that Samsung executives either knew or should have known their products infringed on the listed patents. The jury has also found against Samsung when it comes to Apple’s contours on the back of the iPhone and its home screen GUI. The Galaxy Tab, was found not to have infringed upon Apple’s iPad design patents. The bad news for Samsung continued however, as the jury decided that not only did it willfully infringe on five of the seven Apple patents, but also upheld their validity when it came to utility, design and trade dress.
The amount of the damages against Samsung is in: $1,051,855,000.00 (see below). That’s less than half of the $2.5 billion it was seeking, but still more than enough to put an exclamation point on this victory for the team from Cupertino. The final number is $1,049,343,540, after the judge found an issue with how the jury applied damages for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE and Intercept. The jury also ruled that Apple did not infringe upon Samsung’s patents with the iPhone 3G and 3GS, and has awarded it zero dollars in damage. We’ll have more information for you as it become available.
Update: Both companies have released statements on the matter, with Apple stating via the New York Times the ruling sends a loud and clear message that “stealing isn’t right.” Samsung has its own viewpoint calling this “a loss for the American consumer” that will lead to fewer choices, less innovation and high prices. You can see both in their entirety after the break.
Apple:
We are grateful to the jury for their service and for investing the time to listen to our story and we were thrilled to be able to finally tell it. The mountain of evidence presented during the trail showed that Samsung’s copying went far deeper than even we knew. The lawsuits between Apple and Samsung were about much more than patents or money. They were about values. At Apple, we value originality and innovation and pour our lives into making the best products on earth. We make these products to delight our customers, not for our competitors to flagrantly copy. We applaud the court for finding Samsung’s behavior willful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn’t right.
Samsung:
Today’s verdict should not be viewed as a win for Apple, but as a loss for the American consumer. It will lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and potentially higher prices. It is unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners, or technology that is being improved every day by Samsung and other companies. Consumers have the right to choices, and they know what they are buying when they purchase Samsung products. This is not the final word in this case or in battles being waged in courts and tribunals around the world, some of which have already rejected many of Apple’s claims. Samsung will continue to innovate and offer choices for the consumer
Breaking down Apple’s $1 billion courtroom victory over Samsung
With a 20-page verdict form and 100 pages of instructions to explain it, many figured it would take longer for the jury to render a decision. But, the tech trial of the century has concluded, with Apple scoring a not-quite-flawless victory over its rival Samsung. While the company didn’t win on every count, its cadre of lawyers did convince the nine jurors to award Apple over $1 billion in damages for Samsung’s IP transgressions. Join us after the break and we’ll hit you with the legal math that gave Apple a ten-figure bump to its bottom line — and served as a shot across the bow of every other mobile phone manufacturer.
First things first, let’s explain a little bit of the law that’s put Samsung on the hook for such a sizable sum. A company’s liable for patent infringement under Title 35 of the US Code, Section 271, for making, using or selling a patented invention in the US without authority from the patent owner. So, Samsung’s US subsidiaries were accused as direct infringers for selling phones and tablets here in America. Samsung Korea, however, doesn’t do business in the US, but is still liable under another part of Section 271. The pertinent statutory language states that “whoever actively induces infringement of a patent shall be liable as an infringer.”
The jurors were tasked with determining if Samsung’s devices at issue infringed Apple’s IP, and whether Samsung Korea induced its US subsidiaries to sell those infringing devices. Additionally, the jury had to decide if Samsung did so willfully, as such a finding gives Judge Koh the discretion to triple the damages and award attorneys fees to Apple. Lastly, the nine jurors had to make a call as to whether Apple’s patents were even valid — if a patent isn’t valid, then it doesn’t matter, damages-wise, whether it’s infringed.
Apple brought three utility and four design patents to bear against Samsung. Patent number 7,469,381 is for the bounce back that occurs when you scroll beyond the edge of a webpage or document in iOS. Patent number 7,844,915 is for single-finger scrolling and two-finger zooming, while number 7,864,163 claims tap-to-zoom technology. As for the design patents, D618,677 claims the iPhone’s edge-to-edge glass, speaker slot and display border, while D593,087 claims its rounded corners and home button, and D604,305 claims the grid-style icon layout in iOS. The last design patent, D504,889 is for the iPad’s edge-to-edge glass, rounded corners, and thin bezel.
Apple hit a home run with the ’381 bounce-back patent — the jurors found that all 21 Samsung devices at issue infringed
Apple hit a home run with the ’381 bounce-back patent — the jurors found that all 21 Samsung devices at issue infringed and that Samsung Korea induced its subsidiaries to sell those infringing devices as well. As for the the ’915 and ’163 zooming and scrolling patents, team Cupertino was also successful, albeit not completely: the jury found that most, but not all of the devices infringed and that Samsung Korea was, once again, guilty of inducement. Apple enjoyed similar success with its design patents, with the jury finding that every Samsung phone at issue infringed the D’305 iOS icon grid patent. Meanwhile, the D’677 edge-to-edge glass patent was infringed upon by every handset except for the Galaxy Ace, and the D’087 rounded corners patent was infringed by the Galaxy S, Galaxy S 4G, and the Vibrant. The D’889 patent turned out to be Apple’s sole loser, as the jury found that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi and 4G LTE didn’t infringe the iPad’s design. To top things off, the jury found that all of the infringement was willful except for the infringement of the D’087 patent, and that all of Apple’s patents are valid.
Apple’s patent portfolio didn’t provide its only victory, however, the company also won on a trade dress claim. As a (very) brief refresher for those not familiar, trade dress is a means of protecting a business’s image and overall appearance and how that image is perceived by consumers. The most common example used to explain trade dress is the shape and design of the Coca-Cola bottle: people recognize the bottle and associate it with Coke. Similarly, consumers see the design of the iPhone and associate it with Apple. The jury had to determine if Apple’s iPhone and iPad had protectable trade dress, and if their designs were famous enough to have their value diluted by Samsung’s devices. Once again, the jury found in Apple’s favor, deciding that the iPhone 3G’s (but not the iPad’s) trade dress was valid and that several Samsung handsets had diluted Apple’s brand.
As for Samsung, well, it struck out. On everything. It alleged that Apple was infringing five of its patents, and while the jury found those patents to be valid, it decided that Apple wasn’t infringing them. So, it had no wins to offset its considerable losses, which resulted in a resounding courtroom victory and a $1,049,393,540 windfall for Tim Cook’s crew.
SAN FRANCISCO: Apple won more than $1 billion in a massive victory Friday over South Korean giant Samsung, in one of the biggest patent cases in decades – a verdict that could have huge market repercussions.
A jury in San Jose, California rejected Samsung’s counterclaims against Apple, according to media reports – a big win for the Silicon Valley giant, which had claimed its iconic iPhone and iPad had been illegally copied.
The jury, which had examined infringement claims and counter-claims by Apple and Samsung, ruled the South Korean electronics giant had infringed on a number of patents, the tech websites Cnet and The Verge said in live courtroom blogs.
The verdict affects patents on a range of Samsung products including some of its popular Galaxy smartphones and its Galaxy 10 tablet – devices alleged to have been copied from the iPhone and iPad.
“This is a huge, crushing win for Apple,” said Brian Love, a professor of patent law at Santa Clara University.
“All of its patents were held valid, and all but one were held to be infringed by most or all accused Samsung products. Even better for the company, five of the seven patents were held to be willfully infringed by Samsung.”
Love said this means that Judge Lucy Koh “now has the discretion to triple Apple’s damages award, which is already a monstrous and unprecedented $1.051 billion.”
Technology analyst Jeff Kagan said of the verdict: “This is a great day for Apple. And it will turn into a very expensive day for Samsung.”
Kagan said it was not immediately clear if Samsung would be able to continue to use the technology and pay Apple for the right to do so, or if they must pull their devices and redesign them.
In any case, the verdict in the case – one of several pending in global courts – is likely to have massive repercussions in the hottest part of the technology sector, smartphones and tablets.
Even a delay in sales could endanger Samsung’s position in the US market, where it is currently the top seller of smartphones.
A survey by research firm IDC showed Samsung shipped 50.2 million smartphones globally in the April-June period, while Apple sold 26 million iPhones. IDC said Samsung held 32.6 percent of the market to 16.9 percent for Apple.
The jury reached its verdict after deliberating for less than three days, examining claims of infringement by both sides. The trial heard evidence during 10 days over a three-week period.
Samsung had steadfastly denied the charges by Apple, claiming it developed its devices independently, and countersued in the case, seeking more than $400 million for infringement on its wireless patents.
The verdict came the same day a South Korean court ruled Apple and Samsung infringed on each other’s patents on mobile devices, awarding damages to both technology giants and imposing a partial ban on product sales in South Korea.
The court banned sales in South Korea of Apple’s iPhone 4 and iPad 2, as well as Samsung’s Galaxy S and Galaxy SII among other products. – AFP

It’s very expensive as room for 8 cost about RM2k but it’s inclusive of SPA package and meals. There’s individual SPA in the room itself too but too bad we didn’t utilize it! It’s a great experience staying there except some weird taste dinner.
Our remaining nights were at Colormix Ximending. It’s at strategic location but the room really can’t complain because of the price that we paid for. It was consider a small and cozy room but just that the exterior of the building and the entrance is abit run down.
Ximending has been called the “Harajuku of Taipei” and the “Shibuya of Taipei”. Ximending is the source of Taiwan’s fashion, subculture, and Japanese culture. Ximending is also the main LGBT district of Taiwan, with a host of many clubs and pubs surrounding the area. This area is in the northeastern part of Wanhua District in Taipei and it is also the most important consumer district in the Western District of Taipei. The well-known Ximending Pedestrian Area was the first pedestrian area built in Taipei and is the largest in Taiwan.

Free Baskin Robbins Ice Cream for Msians Today
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia may not have secured any gold medals yet at the London 2012 Olympics. But Media Prima Berhad and Baskin Robbins have decided that a little cheer is needed to lift the spirits, which will come in the form of free ice cream for all Malaysians.
The initiative, dubbed Impian Emas Negara, will see free ice cream distributed to Malaysians at all 61 Baskin Robbins outlets nationwide (excluding two kiosks at Pantai Hospital, Bangsar and Genting Theme Park).
Malaysians can redeem their ice cream from 8pm till 10pm today. Early birds will also be given exclusive vouchers offering exclusive deals.
Each person is entitled to a single scoop and can choose from any of the chain’s famous 31 flavours.
Initially, the campaign, launched in May, had pledged to only provide free ice cream if a Malaysian athlete clinched an Olympic gold medal.
However, Ahmad Izham Omar, chief operating officer, TV networks and chief executive officer of Primeworls Studios, Media Prima Berhad, said the companies were touched by the deep level of commitment showed by Malaysian athletes at the Games.
“It was such an amazing experience for us Malaysians to witness our athletes compete superbly in the world’s most prestigious sports event.
“We felt, after seeing their high-level display of commitment and sportsmanship, that there is no reason for us to not go ahead with the free ice-cream giveaway for all Malaysians. We should all celebrate our heroes who have helped the country achieve international glory and in the process, united us all,” said Izham.
Echoing Izham’s sentiment, Cheah See Yeong, president of Golden Scoop Sdn Bhd, Baskin Robbins’ partner in Malaysia, said the company looked forward to welcoming Malaysians to its outlets today.
“We invite all Malaysians to come celebrate the nation’s pride at all Baskin-Robbins outlets nationwide today. Not only that, early birds who turn up at our event will also be given exclusive vouchers offering the sweetest deals.
“Customers may choose from any of our 31 flavours available in stores. I think the best picks that symbolise this significant event are our Gold Medal Ribbon and World Class Chocolate,” quipped Cheah.
Cheah believed this was also a great way to thank Malaysians who had made a difference through their relentless support for the Malaysian contingent.
Malaysians had thrown their support behind its athletes at the Olympic Games, with support reaching fever pitch level as badminton star Datuk Lee Chong Wei took on China’s Lin Dan in an epic men’s singles final on Sunday.
Chong Wei’s gallant battle, after returning from injury and stretching the Chinese world champion to three sets, captured the hearts of Malaysians who were touched by his emotional display after losing the final.
Chong Wei returned to home soil yesterday to a hero’s welcome at the KL International Airport, where scores of fans greeted his arrival with cheers .
This morning, national sprint cyclist Mohd Azizulhasni Awang made it to the final of the keirin event, but finished sixth.
The 24-year-old, fondly known as the Pocket Rocketman, went toe to toe with the top riders but was eventually beaten in the sprint to the finish line. The gold was won by Chris Hoy of Great Britain.
Baskin Robbins: Free Ice-Cream Deal Still on Despite Chong Wei’s Loss
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Lee Chong Wei may have lost the Olympic men’s badminton final, but the Malaysian public’s dream of scoring free ice-cream is still alive.
Baskin Robbins has clarified that its “free ice-cream for all Malaysians” pledge was not only limited to whether Chong Wei grabs the gold medal in badminton.
A Baskin Robbins’ spokesman said people had assumed that the freebie was being offered only if the national shuttler bagged the gold medal.
“The message sent out was that, if any Malaysian athlete were to return from the Olympics with a gold medal, then we (Baskin Robbins) will be giving out Baskin Robbins ice-cream to Malaysians nationwide,” said a company representative.
“The ice-cream will be distributed on August 8. Lee Chong Wei may not have brought back Malaysia’s first-ever Olympics gold medal but we still have high hopes for the remaining Malaysian athletes and this is just one way of showing our support,” she said.
To celebrate Malaysia’s first Olympics gold medal and to cheer on the Olympics’ heroes, Baskin Robbins had collaborated with Media Prima Bhd’s “Dream of Gold” initiative by pledging to treat Malaysians nationwide with free ice-cream.
Every Malaysian is entitled to one scoop of the ice-cream that would be available on August 8 from 8pm til 10pm at 61 participating Baskin Robbins outlets, excluding kiosks at Pantai Hospital in Bangsar and the Genting Theme Park.
This will also be the first time Baskin Robbins is initiating a mass ice-cream giveaway in Malaysia to commemorate a potentially historic moment of winning a gold medal for Malaysia.
The ice cream pledge by Baskin Robbins and Media Prima had grabbed the attention of Malaysians, with many taking to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to express their views on the subject.
Many had jokingly lamented Chong Wei’s loss as a “missed opportunity” for free ice-cream, while others had stressed that a gold medal for by any athlete is the biggest reward any Malaysian could wish for.
The nation’s Olympic hopes are kept alive in the form of divers such as Pandelela Rinong, Bryan Lomas, Yeoh Ken Nee, Traisy Vivien Tukiet; open water swimmer Heidi Gan; as well as cyclists Azizulhasni Awang.
Azizulhasni is tipped to be Malaysia’s next best bet for a medal in his pet event, the keirin.
Pandelela is expected to face a tough fight from the established Chinese divers.
Meanwhile, Baskin Robbins’ bold move had also sparked a response from other corporate players. Nando’s had posted a poster on their Facebook page in support of Chong Wei’s brave performance in the men’s final.
“We don’t accept your apology, Datuk Lee Chong Wei. Because you did bring Malaysians a golden moment,” Nando’s proclaimed on their Facebook page.
Malaysians immediately embraced the concept, with many offering messages of support for Chong Wei on the restaurant’s FB wall. Some however, joked that perhaps Nando’s should offer free flame-grilled chicken at their restaurant as well.

The delicious dinner set, promised by owner Burhan Mohamed, was a smash hit with people queuing up around the block for the steaming nasi briyani, ayam rendang, egg and an orange cordial drink.
Burhan said he had prepared dinner for 5,000 people.
“I think Chong Wei really did his best and he is still our hero,” he said, adding that all his outlets were packed as customers watched the match on Sunday night.
Worth the wait: People waiting patiently to have dinner at the Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar outlet in SS2, Petaling Jaya.
Lee had lost the fight for the Olympics gold medal against China’s Lin Dan.
Although Burhan had announced last week that he would host a free dinner for fans if Lee bagged the gold, he changed his mind after being wowed by Lee’s gritty performance despite suffering an ankle injury in May.
One of those who enjoyed the complimentary meal yesterday was Wan Nurfatin Megat. The 23-year-old said she had sent numerous encouraging Twitter messages to Lee.
“I told him that he had done his best, not to be sad and that we are really proud of him. He is number one to us,” she said, praising Burhan for his decision to celebrate Lee’s silver win with the free dinner.
Choo Jian Tatt, 18, said Lee was “amazing” because despite having to take painkillers for his injury, he had still performed well.
“For a guy who is not 100% fit, to be able to go against Super Dan‘ (Lin Dan’s nickname) like that, it was amazing,” said the fan.
S. Thiru, 43, said it was an even match, adding that Lee had played “a very good game”.
“And to bring all Malaysians together for the game, that is very good,” he said.
Earlier in Kuala Lumpur, Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai commended Lee on his performance.
“He is a hero to Malaysians as he has brought the country to a higher level and we are very proud of him,” he said after launching the “Promise Me 2012” campaign by the Truly Loving Company Sdn Bhd here yesterday.

Gallant Chong Wei forced to settle for silver by Lin Dan
LONDON: Datuk Lee Chong Wei’s Olympics gold medal hopes have once again been dashed by China’s Lin Dan.
The Malaysian ace put up a brave fight but lost 21-15, 10-21, 19-21 to his arch nemesis in the men’s singles badminton final of the London Olympics at the Wembley Arena here on Sunday.
The first set was a close contest with neither player being able to pull ahead, with the score at 3-2, 5-5, and 9-8 before Chong Wei went into the first set breather 11-8 ahead.
The Malaysian then led 13-10, 16-11, and pulled ahead 19-13. Lin Dan, however, was not about to give in. He narrowed the score to 19-15 before Chong Wei sealed the set 21-15 in 26 minutes.
Chong Wei, however, was always on the back foot in the second set. Lin Dan was 11-7 ahead half way through the set before racing ahead 17-8 and 19-10 before winning 21-10 in 20 minutes to force the rubber.
The decider was a nail-biting affair. Both players gave it their all and the score line showed how evenly matched they were. Both were tied at 3-3, 5-5, 8-8 and 9-9 before Lin Dan went ahead 11-9 after 14 minutes.
It was again very close after that with Chong Wei clawing back to lead at 14-13 before Lin Dan drew level at 15-15.
Chong Wei then went ahead 17-16 and 19-18 before the Chinese ace drew level at 19-19. But this was as far as the Malaysian would go as Lin Dan sealed victory at 21-19 in 28 minutes.
This is the second time Chong Wei has lost to Lin Dan in the clash for the Olympics gold medal. In the men’s singles final in the 2008 Beijing Games, Chong Wei lost 12-21, 8-21 to the Chinese ace.
Chong Wei said he had tried his best against Lin Dan. “I tried really hard and to come this far after two and half months of lay-off is good. I was better than when I played in Beijing or the World Championships. But it seems that I am destined to play bridesmaid again. “I am sorry for not getting the gold for Malaysia,” he said. Lin Dan said that it was a lot harder winning this time around. “A lot of sacrifice and work has gone in the last four years. And today I have achieved it. Chong Wei is a worthy opponent and I have a lot of respect for him,” he added.
PETALING JAYA: Social networks are buzzing ahead of the showdown between Datuk Lee Chong Wei and China’s Lin Dan today.
The term Don’t Let China Win’ and #DLCW, originally meant to be a play on Chong Wei’s initials by his fans for the final went viral worldwide on Twitter trends last Friday.
“Remember Datuk Lee Chong Wei. DLCW = Don’t let China Win. Go LCW!” tweeted @andytelasai. But the term caught on with some international netizens who used the DLCW abbreviation in tweets to egg on their own countries, perhaps not even knowing about the Malaysian shuttler who inspired the term.
One Californian tweeter @ericdetrin11 posted, “C’mon USA! Don’t let China win #DLCW”.
Malaysians took to other social networking sites to express their excitement and hope that Lee will bring home the country’s first-ever Olympic gold medal. User “Technically Nazz” even compared Lee to superhero Batman in the movie The Dark Knight Rises, tweeting “Lee Chong Wei vs Lin Dan is going to be like Batman vs Bane.
“Lee Chong Wei Rises this Sunday! Join the army.”
Felicia Hung said she hoped that defending champion Lin Dan would lose so she could get free ice cream.
“Please kalah (lose) Lin Dan? I want free Baskin Robbins,” she said.
Golden Scoop Sdn Bhd, Baskin-Robbins’ Malaysian partner, had announced that Malaysians would get a free scoop of ice cream at all its 61 outlets nationwide under Media Prima Bhd’s “Impian Emas Negara” initiative, should Malaysia win a gold medal during the Games.
A businessman even posted on a Facebook fanpage dedicated to Lee, offering to sponsor his “pre-wedding and wedding photography”.
While some fans were confident that Lee would bag the gold, others were just happy that he had made it into the finals.
Szi Yong Chong said Lee did not even need to win as he was already a “hero”, while Geow Linda said:”Gold or Silver, it doesn’t matter. Do your very best (and) show the world you are the BEST!”
Another user urged Lee to think of the various rewards he would gain if he won the match.
“Come on Chong Wei, think of the gold bars,” said user Tunku Acet Wa, referring to the 12.5kg gold bar worth RM2mil offered by gold mine owner and KL Racquet Club Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Andrew Kam.
