The handset weighs around 110 grams which is quite a feathery weight in compared to other cell phones. The device has a candy bar design, it means it is full in rounded rectangular shape and sturdy structure.

At its center is a bright, glossy 3.8-inch Super Amoled display. Running on a single-core 1GHZ CPU processor with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, the Optimus SOL also has a 5MP camera and a decent profile of 9.8mm. The LG Optimus SOL also features LG’s new power management system called “Dark UI”. Dark UI uses less white light in the phone’s interface allowing battery life to be extended. This will increase the battery life by about 20 to 30%!

The LG Optimus SOL is 9.8 millimeters (0.39 inch) thick, is made out of plastic, but fortunately, the choice of materials makes the smartphone lightweight and easy to use with a single hand.

Review @ LG E730 Optimus Sol - three capacitive buttons

There are three capacitive buttons underneath the display screen, a front-facing VGA camera above it, the volume rocker on the phone’s side, while on the top you will find a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack, a microUSB port with removable cover as well as a lock button. A nice surprise is that you also have a secondary microphone for noise cancellation, a thing uncommon to handsets of this class.

The LG Optimus SOL is the first LG to boast an AMOLED display, or “Ultra AMOLED” as they call it, and we can see it does its job pretty well. The 3.8-inch WVGA display manages to deliver intense, saturated colors, enough to make watching videos a pleasure, but it also has good viewing angles and outdoor visibility, even on a sunny day.

Review @ LG E730 Optimus Sol - 5 Mega Pixel Camera

Camera
The LG Optimus SOL comes with an average, 5-megapixels camera with autofocus but, unfortunately, no flash. The interface offers a number of shooting scenes, face detection, and the ability to take panorama photos. Outdoor shots have a pretty accurate exposure level and color reproduction, although there is a noticeable lack of detail. Indoor pictures are definitely worse, with lots of digital noise and almost no fine detail. You photos will look acceptable only if there is enough light around.

Connectivity
In terms of connectivity, the LG Optimus SOL is very well covered, as no feature that you would ever need is absent. You get a 7.2Mbps 3G radio, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n with support for Wi-Fi Direct and DLNA, as well as Bluetooth 3.0. The GPS module needs about 30 seconds to locate you from a cold start, and about two seconds after that.

Performance
The call quality of the LG Optimus SOL is very good on both sides of the line, with rich, distinctive tones in the earpiece even when the volume is set to the maximum, while the secondary microphone gets rid of all background noises making voices sound clear and distinguishable.

Other Additional Facilities Available Are
It has added features like Voice Memo, Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, SNS integration, Predictive text input, YouTube, Digital compass along with supporting various media file formats like MP2, WAV, WMV, MP4, H.263, H.264 and eACC+.

Conclusion

LG Optimus SOL (E730) is a class of the device with excellent display screen. The slick design and light weight plus the Ultra AMOLED display is definitely a plus, as it is very pleasing to the eye. The device is also quite slim, lightweight, fits well in the hand, and its call quality is above average.

It’s a good mid range phone that you might want to get. This handset is good buy for those who are looking for a change to android smartphone and yet want an excellent display plus sleek design phone.
