Katy Perry

Katy Perry

Pop icon Katy Perry is well-known for louder than life performances in her eccentric outfits and of course, infectious pop songs. Katy’s debut album One of The Boys hit the charts and went platinum in the UK, US and Australia, and double platinum in Canada. Over 5 million copies of the album have been sold with many smashing singles including “I Kissed A Girl,” “Hot N Cold,” “Thinking Of You” and “Waking Up In Vegas.”

During the recent MTV Movie Awards 2010, Katy Perry performed her latest single “California Gurls.” Stealing the show, Katy gave California a new theme song and a new sense of cool with her sparkling outfit and heart pumping dance moves. The single “California Gurls” has been No. 1 on Billboard Digital Songs for week of June 12, 2010 and is also now No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100. The song will be featured in her upcoming album Teenage Dream, slated for release on 24 August 2010 (in US and Canada) and 30 August 2010 (for the rest of the world).

Among the awards won by Katy include MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 for Best New Act; and in 2009 the BRIT Awards for International Female Artist, MTV Australian Music Awards for Best New Artist, NRJ Music Awards for International Album Of The Year and MTV VMAJ for Best New Artist In A Video.

Tokio Hotel

Tokio Hotel

Tokio Hotel, the biggest act to come out of Germany in 20 years, has gone a stunning 45x platinum and 65x gold, scored five No. 1 singles and three No. 1 albums. Their rocket to success launched in 2001 when Bill Kaulitz and his twin brother Tom – the band’s hip-hop-tinged guitarist – formed the band along with bassist Georg Listing, and drummer Gustav Schaefer.

In 2005, they released their German debut album Schrei, including their worldwide hit single “Durch den Monsun (Monsoon).” since then they’ve caught on like wild fire and gained the attention of an entire generation. In France, the group’s popularity exploded. They went from playing small club gigs for 500 to performing at the foot of the Eiffel Tower for a crowd of 500,000 screaming fans phonetically belting out the words to Tokio Hotel’s German hits. Soon after they made history by becoming the first German band to score a No. 1 hit on the Israeli radio charts and in 2007, Tokio Hotel received their first MTV Europe Music Award. Over the last few years, the four rock stars won almost anything a group could possibly win in Europe (a total of 36 awards) including two further MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Headliner (2008) and Best Group (2009). Even in the US, Tokio Hotel scored big time! They received an MTV Video Music Award in Los Angeles for Best New Artist (2008) and from South America they took home an incredible four MTV Latin Music Awards in 2008, amongst others in the categories Best International Newcomer and Best Song (Monsoon).

Tokio Hotel’s current album Humanoid – including their hit singles “Automatic” and “World Behind My Wall” – topped the German charts right from day one and entered at No. 2 in the Billboard European Album Charts. To date, Tokio Hotel has sold more than 7 million records worldwide.

Wonder Girls

Wonder Girls

Asian pop sensation Wonder Girls are South Korea’s girl group (made up of Sun, Yenny, Yubin, Lim and Sohee) who has become the very first Korean group from Asia to enter Billboard Hot 100 in 30 years. The Wonder Girls were introduced through the channel’s programme called MTV Wonder Girls which was filmed and directed by MTV Korea. Debuted in 2007, the Wonder Girls became very popular with their songs “Tell Me,” “So Hot” and “Nobody.” The infectious hit “Nobody” peaked at No. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 4 on Billboard Heatseekers Song, and No. 1 on Billboard 2009 Year-End Hot Singles Sales chart, which rose the girls to instant fame. “Nobody” sold over 32,000 albums, was downloaded over 30,000 times on the internet, and has over 13 million views to-date on across popular social media platforms.
With their rising success, Wonder Girls opened the U.S. leg of The Jonas Brothers World Tour last year (along with Honor Society and Jordin Sparks) for over 50 concerts in North America. From June 4 to July 20, 2010, Wonder Girls is having their their own U.S. tour concert called ‘Wonder Girls World Tour’. Their accolades won in 2009 included Artist Of The Year at the Seoul Music Awards, Best Asia Artist Of The Year at MTV Style Gala in China and Group Of The Year at the 6th Annual Korean Music Awards.

Bunkface

Bunkface

Vocalist Sam, bass guitarist Youk and lead guitarist Paan are the young Klang lads who formed Bunkface in 2005. In only a year, they have won two Battle of the Bands organized by ROTTW and University Malaya respectively. Their first song “Silly Lily”was No. 1 on FLY FM’s Campur Chart for an astounding 10 weeks in a row. The new indie rock band stormed on to the local scene when they swept 3 Shout! Awards – Rockstar, Breakout and Ultimate – last year. Bunkface then went on to win Most Popular Group/Duo award at Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian 2009. The band continues to gain accolades in 2010, winning an AVIMA award for Best Rock Vocalist. At the 2010 AIM17 Awards, they picked up Best Rock Song for “Situasi” and the Anugerah Kembara, an award which honors musicians who have taken their music beyond Malaysian shores. This unstoppable group recently released their first full-album Phobia Phoney in March. The local indie band’s most popular songs include “Bunk Anthem,” “Situasi,” “Extravaganza,” “Prom Queen” and “Revolusi.”

I feel good when I able to raise fund to fulfill Mr Kau wish in TLC Promise Me Campaign. To date, I have raised RM788 in total for Mr Kau. You could check out more about the Promise Me Campaign that I posted earlier and how I manage to raise the fund and I must say that it was a challenging task!

Interview

Last Saturday, early in the morning I went to meet Mr Kau and interview with Bernama TV of this TLC Promise Me Campaign in Mr Kau’s house. He’s waiting for my arrival eagerly and I can tell from his face, he’s very happy to see me and chat with me although this is the second time meeting him. =)

Bernama crew and reporter were there to interview Mr Kau & Me on this TLC Promise Me campaign. Mr Kau speak very slow and in cantonese so his daughter be the translator and yes he’s very happy that someone actually help to fulfill his wish of getting Ankle-foot orthoses (AFO) for him.

He related his experience as a stroke survivor and must be thankful that he could still walk around with assistant right now. I’m proud of myself too as I did try my best to help someone who’s really in need and reward back to the society.

We can’t just work, eat and sleep doing the same routine tasks but without doing something that’s meaningful in our live. It is about channeling the collective energy of the community in helping the less fortunate, disabled and underprivileged in our society.

Always remember this phrase : “Celebrate the past, enjoy the present, create our future.” Thanks for those who supported me in the Car Wash Campaign and to those who donated too.

Maxis and Digi to Offer Apple iPhone 4 in Malaysia Soon!

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 5,329 views

Yes, finally Maxis and Digi website is up with the iPhone 4 registration or interest page now. Both telco are now fighting to promote and push for iPhone 4 now and getting their users to submit their email for the latest updates of the iPhone 4 availability. There’s no pricing of the iPhone 4 and the new data rate plan but I believe they will come up with more idea how to compete between this two telco.

Apple iPhone 4

The registration of interest does not treat as iPhone 4 per-order. You may also wait and see which telco could provide the best rate and best iPhone 4 package but I recon it will not be much different. Maxis registration page required much information compared to Digi page and Digi is using GoogleDoc to collect data, they are really smart and cost saving. =)

Maxis iPhone 4 Pre-order / Registration

For Maxis register here.

Digi iPhone 4 Pre-order / Registration

For Digi register here.

Despite of iPhone 4 antenna issue and screen issue I believe there’s still a lot of iPhone fans out there who’s dying for this. Will you be getting a free iPhone 4 bumper / case to solved the iPhone 4 antenna problem as well? =p

I’ve actually registered myself to both Maxis and Digi so that I could get the 1st hand information and details (e.g. when is the iPhone 4 available to Malaysia and the pricing of the iPhone 4 package) from both the telco.

Charity car wash campaign was a big success!

As I have posted earlier, I took up a pledge to fulfill Mr Kau wish of getting an “Ankle Foot Orthotic” (or AFO), it’s a special brace that is designed to help control the motion of the ankle joint and also offer support to the foot. In order to fulfill Mr Kau wish, I have came up with Charity Car Wash idea.

Then I proposed to a car detailing shop (Shine N Shield) owner and he agreed to help up on this charity campaign and I really appreciate him for his support! I have also come up with a promotional video clips so that more people aware of this car wash campaign.

Last Sunday, was one of my most meaningful day as I raised fund to fulfill Mr Kau wish by having a car wash campaign. I must thank Raymond, the owner of the car detailing shop Shine N Shield @ Sunway for supporting me in this car wash campaign by giving me a place to host this charity car wash campaign.

Shine N Shield

He was kind enough to provide 2 workers to help up too, initially I was just asking him whether want to take part in this charity car was campaign and I will wash the cars myself no need to involve the workers. But seriously, without the help of the 2 works and friends, I really cannot finish washing so many cars in 4 hours!

On top of that, he provided refreshment and drinks for those who participated in this raising fund campaign too, it’s so kind of him. If you wish to do car detailing Polarized Protection System, do check out my previous experience here.

Throughout this 4 hours Charity Car Wash campaign, even I’m very exhausted, but I managed to wash 15 cars and raised RM480! Although I was expecting more cars but the target was achieved, really appreciate those who came and support!

On top of that, I managed to raise another RM278 by donation, so in total I have raised RM758! I really appreciate all the kind support from my friends and readers. Thanks!

Petrol, Sugar, LPG, Diesel Price Increase Again!

Friday, July 16th, 2010 7,570 views

It’s the time again! Petrol and Sugar price increased again! So other thing will follow to shoot up the price except our salary, how to survive like that?? =(

The price of sugar will go up 25sen to RM1.75 per kg; LPG will go up 10sen to RM1.85 per kg; petrol RON95 will be up 5sen to RM1.85 per litre and diesel will be up 5sen to RM1.75 per litre.

RON 97 will no longer be subsidised. It will be subjected to a managed float, where the price will be determined by the automatic pricing mechanism. The question is, petrol price increase other price follow but when the petrol price decrease or reduce, the other price will not go down and it will not float but only up! That’s the worst case!

Ron95 Petrol Price RM1.85
I just went to pump and it’s RM1.85 now! =( but luckily only 5sen but it’s still my hard earn money!

Ron95 Petrol Price RM1.80
Ron95 Petrol Price RM1.85

Before Fuel Price Increased : 33.31 Liter for RM60
After Fuel Price Increased : 32.43 Liter for RM60

So in conclusion, each RM60 pump will rugi 0.88 liter, if pump full tank will rugi 1.2 liter which will translate to 1.2 * RM1.85, so each full tank I gonna pay more RM2.22

Before if you pump RM80 which will translate to 44.444 liters
Now if you pump RM80 which will translate to 43.243 liters

So you will only rugi 1.2 liters which will translate to RM2.22! Wow. How much will you rugi? So I cannot have my nasi lemak + teh tarik for breakfast anymore… =(

Prices of sugar, petrol, LPG, diesel to go up Friday

Subsidy removed for RON 97 petrol

KUALA LUMPUR: From Friday, the subsidies for sugar, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas and diesel will be cut as part of the gradual subsidy rationalisation programme, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office on Thursday.

It will be subjected to a managed float, where the price will be determined by the automatic pricing mechanism, the statement said.

The details of these changes are now available on the PMO and PEMANDU websites, at: www.pmo.gov.my and www.pemandu.gov.my.

On May 27, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala had said that Malaysia would be bankrupt by 2019 if it did not cut subsidies and rein in borrowings.

He had said that Malaysia’s debt would rise to 100% of GDP by 2019 from the current 54% if it did not cut subsidies.

Meanwhile, In ALOR SETAR, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that when implementing the subsidy rationalisation plan, the Government would seek not to burden the people.

He said the rationalisation move was necessary to reduce Government expenditure and strengthen the financial position of the country.

“It will help reduce the fiscal deficit so that world and local markets will have more confidence in the national economy,” he told newsmen after opening the Kuala Kedah Umno division meeting here on Thursday.

He added that the Government was reviewing all types of subsidies.

The full press statement from the Prime Minister’s office is below:

1. To help Malaysia maintain the strong growth it has achieved, the Government has implemented difficult but long-needed economic reforms that will help Malaysia become a developed and high-income nation. In this regard, the Government has begun a planned and fair reform of a subsidy regime that for too long has been ineffective in helping those who need it most and, over time, has become a barrier to Malaysia’s progress.

2. The Government has made bold economic decisions over the past two years. Two stimulus packages were introduced, promoting growth, even as the global financial crisis spread. Important sectors of our economy further liberalised were opened to new investment.

The Government cut spending by RM24 billion, by reducing waste and inefficiency. As a result, the country’s economy has been reinvigorated, with 10.1% growth in the first quarter of 2010, Malaysia’s best performance in a decade. Although there is still instability in the global economy, Malaysia is well positioned for the future – not by chance, but by the choices we have made together.

3. As set out by the Prime Minister when he announced the 10th Malaysia Plan, Malaysia’s national goals cannot be achieved by simply managing through a crisis. Malaysia’s ambition is to be a high-income nation, with opportunity for all.

4. In the New Economic Model, the Prime Minister set out plans for further investment in key strategic sectors, upgrading our infrastructure, creating additional private sector investment opportunities and realizing higher levels of GDP growth.

However, growth alone will not allow us to meet our goals. As the Government has consistently said over recent months, we must also implement subsidy reforms that will remove distortions in the marketplace and enable us to better target our resources on those most in need, and on investments that will provide lasting benefits for Malaysians.

5. With these priorities in mind, the Cabinet has decided that, effective 16 July 2010, subsidies for fuel, specifically petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), as well as sugar, will be reduced as the first step of a gradual subsidy rationalisation programme.

Subsidies for RON 95 and diesel will be reduced by 5 sen per liter. LPG will be reduced by 10 sen per kilogram. RON 97 will no longer be subsidised. It will be subjected to a managed float, where the price will be determined by the automatic pricing mechanism. For sugar, the upward price adjustment will be 25 sen per kilogram. The details of these changes are now available on the PMO and PEMANDU websites, at: www.pmo.gov.my and www.pemandu.gov.my

6. These minimal changes will help Malaysia achieve a position of fiscal responsibility and put us on a path toward reducing our deficit. To meet these objectives, we have chosen to make adjustments to our subsidies. Even after these changes, the Government will still spend an estimated RM 7.82 billion on fuel and sugar subsidies in 2010. The prices of fuel and sugar in Malaysia will still be among the lowest in the region.

7. This subsidy rationalisation will, according to estimates, allow Malaysia to reduce Government expenditure by more than RM 750 million in 2010.

8. The decision to reduce subsidies for fuel and sugar is based on the fact that reducing fuel subsidies will have the greatest impact on government spending and reducing sugar subsidies will allow us to promote healthier lifestyles. The decision is also grounded on three main concerns:

a. First, these subsidies also benefit foreigners and wealthier Malaysians, who can well afford to pay unsubsidised prices. Our focus should be on helping the family sharing a motorcycle or Kancil to get to work and school, but instead our spending on subsidies has provided the same benefits to those driving imported luxury cars.

The sugar subsidy disproportionately benefits industries, not families. Businesses have been using almost twice as much subsidised sugar as Malaysian households.

b. Second, highly subsidised prices often lead to illegal smuggling of these goods. Because subsidies make these products the cheapest in the region, in 2009 alone smugglers were caught heading out of Malaysia with more than 200 metric tonnes of sugar to be sold across borders.

Also, subsidised diesel continues to go to the black market or across our borders, instead of to those we meant to assist. Law enforcement have been doing their best to prevent smuggling, with 109 sugar related arrests last year. This is the tip of the iceberg. As long as there are big price differences, smuggling will continue. And:

c. Third, unless we reduce our consumption of fuel and sugar, we face potentially serious consequences as a nation. We are quickly depleting our domestic fuel resources. It is vital that we rationalise our fuel use – as well as develop new energy technologies – as a matter of economic, energy and national security.

In this regard, we have implemented a number of policies to protect the environment. We must also reduce our sugar consumption. 40 percent of Malaysians are now either overweight or obese.

Incidents of diabetes are rising quickly. Statistics show that the percentage of Malaysians with diabetes now exceeds that in the United States. We must, as a matter of urgency, take every step available to tackle what is clearly a public health issue for our nation. Reducing sugar consumption, among our children in particular, is a step in the right direction.

9. These are among the reasons why the Government has chosen to focus on sugar and fuel subsidies. Subsidies for education and health care will continue. These are areas of importance for our economy and our society where the Government should be investing.

These include, providing support to develop skills, training the knowledge based workforce of the future and improving the well-being of the nation.

10. The Government arrived at this decision following robust consultations with the people. Thousands of Malaysians participated in the policy labs, Open Day and an unprecedented public feedback process.

As with subsidy reform, the budget, the Government Transformation Program and now the National Key Economic Areas, the Government has made a determined effort to engage the public, listen and learn, and then act in the best interest of the nation.

11. These measures are designed to have a minimal impact on individual families, but long-term benefits for the nation. The reduction in expenditure from these reforms will allow us to better use resources for families, communities and business growth.

Measures such as the 1Malaysia clinics, the 1Malaysia mobile clinics, as well as the scholarships for all 9A+ and deserving students, specifically those who have done well, but come from lower income families, are made possible by such reforms.

Similarly, by reducing expenditure on subsidies we will be able to continue strengthening such initiatives as the price standardisation project, which seeks to harmonise prices of essential goods between urban and rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak.

12. The Government has made a difficult, but bold decision. By choosing to implement these modest subsidy reforms, we have taken a crucial step in the right direction towards meeting our commitment to reduce the fiscal deficit, without overburdening the Malaysian people.

These measures are a demonstration of our fiscal responsibility. They will enhance Malaysia’s financial stability, while also protecting the Rakyat.

Under the campaign, participants will find out and strive to fulfill the wishes of 70 selected individuals from Rumah Aman, Hospis Malaysia, the National Stroke Association of Malaysia and the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children Association of Johor Baru.

Nuffnang Bloggers

As a participant of this Promise Me Campaign together with 4 other bloggers, I was there to witness the launch too. I feel really proud as I could do something and reward back to the society by not just go to work daily, eat and sleep, but do something meaningful in our life and also help those in need.

Nuffnang Bloggers Chairty
We have vowed that we will fulfill the wish of those in need thru this campaign wholeheartedly and we will try our very best effort.

I took up a pledge to fulfill Mr Kau wish of getting an “Ankle Foot Orthotic” (or AFO), it’s a special brace that is designed to help control the motion of the ankle joint and also offer support to the foot.

Nasam Ampang

Nasam Ampang

I have visited Mr Kau in Nasam Ampang. Nasam is really a place where it helps the stroke survivors as their objective is “There is Life After Stroke through proper rehabilitation.” We should have more places like this and more volunteer for charity so that those less fortunate or underprivileged people will not be ignored.

Mr Kau is a very optimistic and very cheerful man. But I sense that he really needs a lot of care and people to talk to him. I was there and chat with him about an hour and really impress with him.

Ankle Foot Orthotic
He needs “Ankle Foot Orthotic” (or AFO) to support him so that he could move around easier.

In order for me to fulfill his wish, I need to raise fund and I come out with an idea of Charity Car Wash. As I know, nowadays most people do have own a car and some even lazy to wash it themselves, so why not I’m doing the Car Wash and at the same time help to raise fund?

I would be glad if you could come and support this fund raising campaign this Sunday (11 July 2pm-6pm) @ Shine N Shield Sunway. The owner of the detailing shop actually agrees to let me to use his place to run this Car Wash campaign and I really appreciate his kind support.

So if you are free this Sunday, ask your friends, relative, bloggers all come and support this Car Wash Fund Raising Campaign that I’ve planned. If you could help me doing the car washing then it will be awesome coz only I one person to wash 20-30cars will not be an easy job! =)

Address : (It’s nearby the food court and colleges)
No. 47, Jalan PJS 11/22,

Paul the Octopus Predict Spain to beat Germany in World Cup semifinal

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 3,748 views

Which team do you support in this South Africa World Cup Semi Final? Germany or Spain? Paul the famous Octopus picked Spain!

Paul the Octopus Predict Spain to beat Germany in World Cup semifinal

This time there is video evidence to prove it, so despite these fake photographs or rumor of Paul picking the mollusk from the box with the Spanish flag on it, this time he has done it for real. His prediction: Spain will advance to the final of the 2010 World Cup and Germany will be left behind.

I was wondering will this be possible? Maybe there’s something in the box that attract Paul? What’s the possible reason? Or is the box position? So let’s see whether the prediction is correct or not this time.

Warning! Do not 100% trust this octopus and you think his prediction will be true and go gamble all out then you will be in trouble! My advise is, do not gamble.

Haha see.. Paul also like Malaysia. Malaysia sure win! (P/S: It was photochopped!)
Octopus

Okay there’s video to prove that Paul the Octopus really pick Spain! No joke! But how true is it tomorrow we will know =)

(CNN) — German football fans should brace themselves for disappointment in Wednesday’s World Cup semifinal against Spain, according to the latest prediction of an octopus with a knack for picking winners.

Paul the octopus, a psychic cephalopod at Sea Life in Oberhausen, western Germany, has become a World Cup phenomenon after correctly predicting the victors in all five of Germany’s matches so far and Tuesday’s ceremony was carried live on German television.

Sea Life staff help Paul make his prediction by lowering two boxes of food into his tank, one carrying a German flag and the other bearing that of their opponents. The case he opens first is adjudged to be his predicted winner.

The octopus correctly picked that Joachim Low’s side would beat Ghana and Australia in the group stages, but also outwitted most professional pundits by predicting Germany’s shock 1-0 defeat by Serbia.

In the knockout stages it tipped Germany to beat both England and Argentina, but it drew cries of despair from assembled watchers Tuesday when, after initially lingering over the box for the German flag, it plumped for the Spanish flag instead.

But in case you’re thinking of staking your life savings on Paul’s mystic abilities, be warned: the octopus only managed an 80 percent success rate in predicting Germany’s results at the 2008 European Championships — and failed to foresee Spain’s 1-0 win over Germany in the final.

Updates:

Paul is really the smartest octopus! You are the magic! You are great! Spain won! Spain beat German 1-0 in South Africa World Cup 2010, so what’s next for the World Cup Final?

Netherlands vs Spain! Paul please tell us which team will team will ya? But must remember that 2008 Paul predict wrongly… So to trust or not to trust Paul is up to you!

I’m thinking today, they will be a lot of ppl ordering Calamari / Sotong (Octopus) for lunch and dinner! haha…
