Naza Kia Forte 1.6SX Clear White

After the long wait… Booked Forte since end of Nov 2009, 1 day before the Forte launch, and only managed to get car yesterday and having a lot of problems too. If you decided and were to book a Naza Kia Forte, book it with Naza Branch, do not go for dealer I would advise you. This is because some ppl booked dec 2009 get it end of dec 2009 / mid Jan 2010 and got it before me. Branch will have more stocks compared to dealers. So this is not really fair and …

Naza Kia Forte 1.6SX Clear White

Initially Naza was having some problem with Custom and Menteri Kewangan, CBU / CKD issues, low price, etc and these caused all the Forter 1.6 buyer could not get their cars registered and were waited weeks after weeks till 1 day before CNY… But now the Forte 2.0 still do not have any info on the available date and when is it gonna able to be release to the buyers.

Naza Kia Forte 1.6SX Clear White

Yes, when I finally got my Forte I’m very proud and happy but sad thing was I got the bad news that my New Forte batt flat and got to jump start and then my dashboard no light etc… really disappointed and went to Kia Service Center at Jalan Tandang immediately and waited for almost 4hrs to get them to check the battery issue and check is there any cable or anything loosen that caused the batt and dashboard light problem… but the result was my batt no problem and the check showed “Good Battery”…

Battery Check

A lot of ppl in the forum saying that this Forte cannot be jump start if not it will affect your car electronic and all but I have doubled confirm with the Service Adviser and the Car Manual it’s no prob if you follow the procedure. (Refer to your Car Manual, Emergency Starting, page 6-4)

One more thing forget to mention was… my number plate was broken by the ppl in NAZA KIA Service Center Jalan Tandang, but luckily they are good enough to pay for a new number plate! But isn’t it “suey”? First day get car and so many things happened and sumore during CNY…

Besides the small glitches, I still find it is the best and most worthy car as of now! You will get to enjoy every single moment when you driving your forte, that’s for real. Check the photo out and judge yourself. =)

Remember 1 thing, after you collect your car, immediately go petrol station to fill in petrol and make sure the tyre pressure is 220 / 32psi (you can get this info at the bottom of the driver side door) coz the tyre pressure when you got the car is very high.

  2. oooo, congrats on (finally) getting your new car, bro!!

though it’s kinda worrying to note that you had battery problems right off the start! what, Naza QC non-existent? doesn’t seem right that you had to spend 4 hours+ at the service centre for a fracking-still-smells-so-brand-new-car!!! :@

hmm, with all the problems with the Ministry over taxation, ckd/cbu definitions, what have you heard about the (allegedly impending) price increase for the Forte? say it isn’t so..

haven’t made up my mind yet, to get or not to get..

carfreak : no regrets getting it. I think the car put at the dealer place too long pending for the registration without starting the car. For those who get allocation and still not registered, remember to start your car!

    • Hi Joyce,

Have you test drive the car? It’s a good and worthy car. I’m taking 7-8L / 100km which is good for me. Sometimes it will be go out to 9L+ but it’s stuck in jam or something. You will not regret getting this car I would say.

hmmm, I’m driving a waja now and I must say the fuel consumption of the two cars are quite similar with the Forte having a small lead. Nice!

    Thanks for your info!

  17. Hi SMK,

Thanks for the advise to check tyre pressure after car collection.

I got my car very late at nite so didn’t do much besides putting in some petrol after collecting car. But the drive back home from Rawang and to work the next day, I notice that my car is very noisy and very bumpy.

I really thought that the tyres are simply not good. Then remembered your advise and decided to go check out the tyre pressure. Wow! had a shock that its at 52psi instead of recommenede 32psi. Wat kind of gila pressure la. No wonder my car was bumpy and had awful body roll when cornering at fast speed. Got it fixed at 32psi now and my baby is such an awesome ride now!

    Thanks again, SMK !!!

  18. Hi guys, im in a very big confusion in getting a Kia Forte or a Honda City, went n test drive both the cars but i really like d outlook of the Forte, it really had the class but many of them was saying that it doesnt have a 2nd hand value in the future and the spare parts are expensive.

Can someone advise me on dis pls?? Thanks.

    • Hi Melissa, how long do you plan to drive the car and how soon do you think you will sell the car? If 10 years then don’t even care about the resell value and as of now no one know the resell value but rest assured if the car is getting more popular I don’t see any problem selling it and any problem in getting spare parts as it should be widely available.

  20. Hi SMK,

Me just heart my drive and so heart the push start button! Cargasm every morning! (“,)

@ Melissa – I had the same doubts too but quite glad I went with the Forte. Its a class above VIOS n City and this will be clear to you if you schedule for car viewing/test drive of all 3 cars on the same day. VIOS, followed by City and lastly, Forte. =)

On another note, how often do you need to change spare parts in your current car? I drove my last car for 9 years and I hardly need to change any until the last 12 months or so and its also due to normal wear n tear. That makes the ‘pricey’ spare parts bit a bit redundant, no? =)

  22. hi saimatkong, the below was posted in the wrong section. now i moved to this section.
other readers please feel free to share your experiences with the forte.

how’s your experience with your forte to date? i read v7 some comments on problems with forte like car breakdown, pulling to the left, sound here and there, jerking, electronics malfunction, poor resale value seen in the classified the star newspapers such as kia sportage and optima, fuel consumption getting higher after few k km, etc.

i’m a bit worried as i’m still buying time before i book the 1.6L SX. first time buying a car.

is the titanium silver looks a bit blue like the Camry? is it not grey? thinking of metal bronze.

your kia sticker on the wheel cap, does it come off or delaminate with bubbles?

hope your feedback will help me to clear some doubts.

    thank you.

i like forte but very worried such a purchase may give costly affairs in the next few years.that’s why i’m still thinking whether i should just settle with viva or saga or go for forte.

  25. Hi saimatkong,

Im planning to book forte. one thing that i concern is, the 17’inch sport rim is rather big for 1.6cc.

will it pull down the power of the car, since it’s heavy and the tires was meant to be used in korea suitable for 4 season(as told by the salesperson) eg,i worried it will affect the pickup performance.

Look forward for your reply. thank you.

    Post a Reply
    • Hey Calvin, Don’t worry it’s good car and it’s not under power or what so ever. Just test drive it and you will feel it. Overall it’s just perfect. =)

  26. saimatkong,

i have test drive it. the pickup will be better if the sport rim change to 16inch and with local tires on. i can feel the car the is heavy when pickup. it it take some time to rch 100km/hr.

compare to Honda Civic, it comes with 17inch, and it’s only 1.8cc. which i think still ok.

    Calvin.

This is my first time in buying a car and i am very interested in Forte.

My question is on the warranty. I heard some say Naza is giving 5 years warranty. I just went to show room just now and the salesman told me only two years. Do you know anything about this?

  32. I got my Clear white Forte 1.6EX late Jun 2010. I have this problem. 1) My tyres vibrates when drove 100km above. twice sent to Naza 3s service centre in Selayang. Still having the same problem despite a so called specialist attended to my car problem. At last, went to outside tyres shop and get in nicely ratified. Loss confidence on these Naza service centre. 2) Then I have one of my tyre losing air preassure. Every 4 days I have to pump that tyre. Thought it was spike by a nail or whatsoever. Finaally I went to that tyre shop and surprise to be informed that the hole comes from my sport ream. How the hell can this kind of stuff being certified fit. Then went again to this 3S Naza centre. I have to wait for 10 days to get my ream replaced. This is the worse experience after buying 7 brand new cars. But nevertheless, Forte is a good car. Nice to drive and good performance. It consumed fuel silghtly more than a quarter tank from Kl to JB at a 120-140 km drive. Despite all the above experience, anyone interested in Forte, Go ahead and buy one. I would not agree to say it would be SPEECHLESS.

  37. Hi Sam, nice review you have.
I am planning to get a Forte & just test-drived the 1.6 EX 6 speed today. Noticed something different about the full auto air con compared with other cars like P2. It’s normal during the normal & gradual accelerated drive. But during pick-up when I push the fuel paddle harder, the air-con seems turn off for a while & went back to normal again. I’m not sure if Forte is designed to be this or this is a manufacturing defect. I’ve asked the SC but he said he didnt feel it. Just would like to know your advice since you are driving a Forte. Thanks!

    • I don’t like to use the auto air cond but so far it’s ok for me using manual settings.
