Rambo 4: John Rambo Special Screening

Rambo is a series of popular action films starring Sylvester Stallone, based on the characters created by David Morrell in his novel First Blood.

The films are: First Blood (1982), Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Rambo III (1988), and Rambo (2008). The films focus on a troubled Vietnam War veteran and Green Beret, John James Rambo, who is greatly skilled in all aspects of survival, weaponry, hand-to-hand combat and guerrilla warfare.

Morrell says that in choosing the name Rambo he was inspired by “the sound of force” in the name of the Rambo apples which he encountered in Pennsylvania, and he felt that its pronunciation was similar to the surname of Arthur Rimbaud, the title of whose most famous work A Season in Hell, seemed to him ” an apt metaphor for the prisoner-of-war experiences that I imagined Rambo suffering.”[1]

In popular culture, the name has become an eponym for a tactic of military aggression or, alternatively, a person demonstrating heroism through extreme violence, especially when outnumbered. However, the term can also be used somewhat derogatorily to describe someone who thoughtlessly charges into a fight with no regard for personal safety or careful planning. This term is commonly referred to as “Going Rambo”. more info

Rambo’s a winner. Are you?
Yes, I’m =)

Rambo always wins. There wouldn’t be a Rambo 4 otherwise. Consequently, if there wasn’t a fourth instalment in the Rambo movie series, the following people – all of whom took part in the Rambo 4: John Rambo Contest – wouldn’t have won invitations for themselves and a friend each, to a special screening on Jan 24, but thankfully, there is, so here you go:

Traveling makes us a better human being as we recognise the similarities and celebrate the differences of cultures between where we travel to and where we come from. “The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”

Photography do more than just capturing the best moments in our lives; they also help us tell our life stories. “Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
